I'm not talking about acoustic ballad shit, make something interesting, groovy, short and ofc without vocals. So no prog metal. If she doesn't bite, you can always reuse the song in future for other exploits :)

Yeah, if you can't get the chick with prog, why bother with her at all?

I mean, seriously, one of the first signs of true convergence with my wife came really early in our dating. I played to her King Crimson

which - up until then - has been mostly misunderstood by the people around me, even my good friends. And she found it really good and intriguing, despite never having listened to prog before.

Also, do you know this very track has been actually used in porn? (allegedly it was used in the movie Emanuelle, which I never saw, but I have no trouble believeng that particular info).

All I'm saying is that all that prog = incel is not really true.

I still don't understand this. Maybe it's a cultural thing. The prog-listening guys I know aren't incelly at all. Besides, I consider prog-listening a definitive bonus in a potential boyfriend.

It’s an old canard about most women being unable to appreciate prog because it doesn’t have a beat you can dance to. Probably also some metaphorical allusions about the masturbatory nature of the music being a reflection of the person’s real life.

Of course there are plenty of well-adjusted people in positive relationships that love prog. I’m only prog-curious myself, but my wife should be able to vouch for me not being an incel. And I still find the stereotype funny, and not wholly inaccurate.

I'd say it comes mostly from prog = nerd = trouble getting girls.

And unlike some other nerdy stuff that got normalized in the past few years this one is still somewhat on the outsider kind of things. It's much easier to "normalize" for the general public something like Star Wars or Star Trek than a genre with 10+ minute songs, weird rhythms and metres, sonata form and so on. Also doesn't have the "urban appeal" and still-sorta-"hip" reputation of jazz, which many people listen to "just because", whether they understand musical modes or not.

Relax, it's a meme.

God dammit. She's so beautiful and I'm such a coward. Damn. It.

Saap, can you teach me guitar so that I can write her a song?

Do you guys want me to write the notes for you? Then you can just send them along. I'll do it, I'll Cyrano de Bergerac you motherfuckers.
