I have never liked the way Wasted Years sounds live. Adrian's alternate-picking opening riff doesn't sound anything like the album. I know its because they don't use guitar synths for the song on tour, but the synth is what gives that song its signature sound, and for me it's sorely missed...
Its my number 11. Its an awesome album I agree. Especially for Starblind which is one of my favorite songs. Its just that I like 10 other awesome albums slightly better.
I recall putting in a ranking on this forum a couple years ago. Here is an updated one although I doubt it has changed much except of course for needing to slot in the last 2 or 3 releases.
1. Somewhere in Time.
2. Powerslave
3. Piece of Mind.
4. Killers
5. The Number of the Beast.
6. AMOLAD...
That's pretty much my summation also. The damn thing needed lots of trimming, so.........great post. The only melodies that have stuck with me after about 4 full listens are Days of Future past and HOE. As for the opener, I think Days of Future Past would be the best one when they do the...
I listened to it a couple more times. It is a good song with a terrific intro and I love those "ghostly" vocals. Great solos too. But most of the guitar chugging from 4.35 to 6.10 needed to be cut. And the song should have ended at 8.10. Just lack of editing keeping it from being great.

I'm sad to say this is a song I will be skipping. Way too "X-Factorish" for me. That loooooonnnggg span of repetitive "Duh-duh-duh-duh-dum, duh-duh-duh-duh-dum" guitar strumming is not my cup of tea. Also some parts remind me of the bad parts of Tears of a Clown that I dont like.
