But what if a younger drummer also played not that fast, because that's what Bruce, Adrian and the band want now. Simon is doing fine, it's just that it makes a big impression because Nicko is unique and he doesn't have his live experience. He definitely can/should play some parts faster, I doubt it's like an issue for Steve.

Yes something like that. But i didnt feel this is not iron maiden or this is a disaster nothing like that.they are going to finish their carrear soon. Why look for a superstar drummer if you know are going to be there for maybe 5 more years. Drummer for tours he was announced like that. And surely he gets paid different than nicko.
Absolutely. That's why I find the parallelism with Burr rather simplistic. Clive and Nicko, each in their own style, had supernatural groove and swing. And both added something unique to the formula. I can't check any of those boxes (at least yet) with Dawson.

They had insider info. Anika played with Jeff Beck. John "Skully" McIntosh was Geddy's long time bass tech and overall right hand man (vintage bass buying buddy), who took the gig of being Jeff's guitar tech after Rush was done (and later, Joe Satriani's after Jeff's passing). Skully got to know Anika and called Geddy telling him that if they ever want to do something again, she is the one. After Alex decided to maybe tour again (or... Geddy convinced him), they called her. I'm sure that Skully had the answer to all of those questions.
Insider info apart, which @matic22 has broken down already, you can't possibly think that Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson just choose "someone" to fill in Neil Peart's shoes without carefully weigh all the aspects of the matter and rehearse with her beforehand.
Exactly. They were rehearsing for a year and apparently it wasn't going great during the first few rehearsals.

True, but some songs are much better this year drumming-wise. Murders and 2MTM are the first ones that come to mind.
I did also think that at the time. It was a short amount of time between the London film premiere nearer the start of May and opening night later in May, unless Dave/H/Bruce were already in Croatia and flew back?
