Nicko McBrain retires

That. And I would go with albums. Do it in podcast format. Actually, McBrain podcast would be amazing.
Even better, yes.
So this basically confirms that:
a) Nicko himself decided to step down.
b) They knew about for at least since August.
Yep. Expected. So they most likely rehearsed with Simon. Nicko also said that around TBOS era, iirc.
Its is just speculation, and sometimes I was wrong but I always like to pay attention to small details in photos or what someone says (if it is not a prepared statement) because it reveals sometimes what is also on the mind. In my private and professional life I have often noticed things that turned out to be very true.

In the Chris Jericho quote it stands out how he says "on the album", not "on albums" or "a possible future album", as if there were something more concrete he heard about.
He then tries to backtrack by saying "MAIDEN isn't doing a record anytime soon". Without this context, that is an astonishing statement.
It is surely not Chris Jericho's job to confirm that more clearly than it has ever been confirmed before. Indicated that there were no plans, yes, but so clearly confirmed. Strange.
Spot on! :ok: I hope it's true and I hope Nicko played or will play on a whole album and not just a couple of songs, although I'm not sure now.

My inkling ever since the announcement was that Nicko's continued work with the band is going to be stuff like social media appearances and stuff for the fan club. I kinda doubt that the direct references to "working with Nicko" next year is related to anything directly to do with playing live or recording with Maiden.

From the FC magazine. What do you make of this paragraph? Particularly the part about working with him next year.

Steve's words. He seems very enthusiastic. ''Working with Nicko next year'' must be about a new album. What else? For other things, Rod will work with Nicko, not Steve. And it makes perfect sense - recording in 2025, release in 2026 after the tour, 5 years gap. You'd think Steve wouldn't give away/hint they are going to record an album because they like to work in secret, but he did it in 2018, so. He wouldn't say ''working'' if it was about Nicko guest playing live with the band, right?

The management have other projects in mind for Nicko, obviously from his statement, but that doesn't interfere. Also, remember what Bruce said live on stage. All this talk from Steve and Rod about a special next year has to include other stuff, right. It can't just be about the tour, and I assume the documentary is already done.

Why not, because it would be weird for Nicko or he wouldn't want to because he doesn't wan't to miss fills/compromise in the studio? If they're recording a new album with Nicko, it should be soon because he's in shape from touring. Maybe just a couple of songs, I can't see that with Maiden, but who knows. We have the example with Priest, I know it's different, but I'm sure they all want Nicko to be part of the studio band.
And everyone implied this from Bruce's statement, not just us here. But - Nicko will decide.
It's entirely possible that Steve and Bruce have different plans to what extent to inclode Nicko....
Possible, but who's the boss...

Bruce has no problem to work with other musicians (his new solo band), but what he said on stage suggests he thinks like Steve, right.

It's not Steve talking there.
