Yeah, I agree. But it's much easier for me to compare it with post-reunion albums, especially since DOD - the first Maiden release I waited for as a fan.

The production isn't great, but it's something I get used to after a few minutes of listening to an album. In terms of lyrics it's one of their strongest, but musically it's mediocre - especially songs like TFF, El Dorado and The Alchemist. Don't get me wrong, there some great moments on this...

Absolutely spot on, Severian. The only disappointing post-reunion album for me personally was TFF.

Perhaps it was a good decision by Harry to come to the studio only with *ideas* for songs - and to make these songs in the studio. Rock music has to be exciting and lively.

To some people it does matter, apparently. I remember that day very well - on Monday evening I had TFF on my mp3 player, and listened to it on repeat for hours before going to bed on Tuesday morning. I'm pretty sure it happened four days before the German release date - and given the timing of...
