Change some of the Maiden setlists

Mitch Mitchel and Keith Moon both played double bass drum kits from time to time, but they rarely actually used the second bass drum outside of perhaps a drum solo or two.

The use of double bass as a frequent musical technique only really started in the late 1970s/early 1980s (see- early Judas Priest, Motorhead records)
Yup. I know Moon's was for show mostly, but I think Mitchell used it quite a bit.

But yeah, the more frequent use of it started in the 70's.

Nicko has only ever used a double pedal once, on Face in the Sand.

^Yeah, I know that. But he refused to use one and for Where Eagles Dare:

...with Bruce Dickinson commenting that he refused to use one on "Where Eagles Dare", considering them ''undrummerish''.

The Final Frontier tour 2010:

1.The Wicker Man
2.Ghost Of The Navigator
3.Rainmaker
4.Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
5.Dance Of Death
6.The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
7.These Colours Don't Run
8.The Pilgrim (or The Legacy)
9.Different World
10.Wildest Dreams
11.No More Lies
12.Brave New World
13.Iron Maiden
Encore:
14.Paschendale
15.Blood Brothers
16.Out Of The Silent Planet

I removed El Dorado, because only 1 song from TFF album was kinda odd to me (though, this formula worked with Wildest Dreams in 2003)
For me, that leg of the tour should have been only for reunion songs - of course plus the mandatory song, Iron Maiden ! No classics, but a really good setlist...

A Matter of the Beast 07

1. Different World
2. These Colours Don’t Run
3. Brighter Than 1000 Suns
4. The Prisoner
5. Children of the Damned
6. The Longest Day
7. Number of the Beast
8. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
9. For the Greater Good of God

11. The Legacy
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden

14. Paschendale
15. Evil That Men Do
16. Run to the Hills

It seems a little long but with Bruce’s speeches and stuff it would come to around 1hr50min.

A DVD of this set would have been insane!!

Dance of Death 2003-04
  1. Wildest Dreams
  2. Montsegur
  3. Can I Play With Madness
  4. The Trooper
  5. Dance of Death
  6. Rainmaker
  7. Brave New World
  8. Paschendale
  9. Lord of the Flies
  10. No More Lies
  11. Hallowed Be Thy Name
  12. Fear of the Dark
  13. Iron Maiden
  14. Journeyman
  15. The Number of the Beast
  16. Run To The Hills
Pretty hard to improve this setlist, IMO. The actual set has a fantastic mix of 6 "classics" (Wrathchild, Trooper, Hallowed, FOTD, NOTB, RTTH), 6 album tunes (WD, DOD, Rainmaker, Paschendale, No More Lies, Journeyman), and a couple of tracks that could've been considered rarities at the time (CIPWM - not played since 1992, LOTF - not played since 1998, first time live with Bruce)... plus Brave New World. Balance-wise, it's much like TBOS tour.

...but is still absolutely criminal that Montsegur was never played live.

TFF 2011:
  1. The Final Frontier
  2. El Dorado
  3. 2 Minutes To Midnight
  4. The Talisman
  5. Coming Home
  6. The Number of the Beast
  7. Stranger In A Strange Land
  8. The Trooper
  9. The Alchemist
  10. Dance of Death
  11. When The Wild Wind Blows
  12. Fear of the Dark
  13. Iron Maiden
  14. The Wicker Man
  15. Blood Brothers
  16. Hallowed Be Thy Name
Originally one of the weakest album tour sets in Maiden's history, IMO. I get the need to include a fair amount of non-album tracks when you're touring around the globe to places who haven't seen the band before, but the balance was still way off. Plus, the space theme of the album art would have lent itself perfectly to including one song from Somewhere in Time.

TFF 2010:
  1. The Wicker Man
  2. Ghost of the Navigator
  3. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
  4. 2 Minutes to Midnight
  5. El Dorado
  6. These Colours Don't Run
  7. Blood Brothers
  8. Rainmaker
  9. The Pilgrim
  10. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
  11. Brave New World
  12. Fear of the Dark
  13. Iron Maiden
  14. Paschendale
  15. The Number of the Beast
  16. Hallowed Be Thy Name
This tour really needed more AMOLAD, and I wish Paschendale hadn't been dropped in favor of DOD. Also, I really don't like Running Free...

Somewhere Back In Time 2009:
  1. Aces High
  2. Killers
  3. 2 Minutes To Midnight
  4. Revelations
  5. The Trooper
  6. Children of the Damned
  7. Wasted Years
  8. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
  9. Powerslave
  10. The Number of the Beast
  11. Alexander The Great
  12. Phantom of the Opera
  13. Hallowed Be Thy Name
  14. Iron Maiden
  15. Murders In The Rue Morgue
  16. Run To The Hills
  17. Sanctuary
I'm on a roll! The idea behind the 2009 changes, according to the band, was to include some older songs for people who hadn't seen the Early Days tour. However, I think a big part of it was also to cut down on the number of Seventh Son tunes because the original plan to release Maiden England was kicked down the road to facilitate another history tour. Thus, they could have easily omitted all Seventh Son tracks in 2009, and also done a better job picking some more interesting older tunes to swap in... as well as keeping Revelations, because I think it worked so well after 2MTM in the 2008 set.

  6. "Revelations"
  7. "For the Greater Good of God"
  8. "The Wicker Man"
  9. "Sign of the Cross"
  10. "Flight of Icarus"
  11. "Fear of the Dark"
  12. "The Number of the Beast"
  13. "Iron Maiden"

Fight me.

While I agree - underrated song - I seem to recall that Davey had difficulty with the chord progression in studio.

I always wondered why on the Raising Hell video the setlist contain the song Transylvania ! It is kinda strange when this is the last show with Bruce and they played a instrumental o_O A song like Wasting Love for example, would have been better.

I like the Raising Hell video a lot and it needs to be released on DVD along with the Live At Donington '92 (without the black and white footage).

Well, it was basically the Real Live Tour set. Just re-arranged a bit.

Yeah, that is obvious, but to put a instrumental in the setlist (last concert with Bruce) - was odd to me !

To put instrumental on a album - Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) on Powerslave when you have a singer like Bruce, was also odd choice.
