Bruce's Solo Discography Ranked - The Complete List

74: Armchair Hero
Average Score: 6/10
Bonus Tracks 17/31

We head into the 6's with yet another Skunkworks extra. This voting was everywhere as well; only 4 wasn't utilized. Above average begins here, and this is the right song to begin that with, IMO. Nothing much else to say.

Choice comments:

I quite like 'Armchair Hero'. It has a great guitar riff and some wicked vocals.

The most recent Bruce solo album hits the countdown with its counterpart of "Toltec 7 Arrival" - a wonderful little intro called "Mars Within". Again, it's not really a song, but it is a very nice track. The "Mankind returns to the stars..........but sometimes the stars return to mankind!!" bit is awesome. Understandably low, but I agree that it's better than T7A. Also very interesting how the two non-songs rank higher than actual songs. I couldn't find many quotes for this, so instead, enjoy a nice selection from @Number 6 .

Choice comments:

I ranked it so highly because it kinda works like "The Ides of March" for me; it's an intro. And as an intro, especially considering the album (and following song)'s subject matter, it works spectacularly well.
"Abduction" doesn't quite feel right without "Mars Within".
I prefer "Toltec 7 Arrival" as well, but "Mars Within / Abduction" feels like "The Ides of March / Wrathchild" for me. I can't listen to one of them without listening to the other (same goes for "Toltec 7 Arrival / Starchildren").

72: I Will Not Accept The Truth
Average Score: 6.15
Skunkworks 2/13

Okay, NOW we're finally getting a good deal more of the album tracks. This one is also commonly ranked at the bottom of Skunkwork's songs so I don't think I'm surprised about where it ended up. Are you? Definitely not that much to this one. I think this is the most diverse spread of voting given that everything had at least one vote for it.

Choice comments:

I Will Not Accept the Truth is in the vein of Alice in Chains.
Bruce's repetition is usually okay but the repetition in I Will Not Accept the Truth ruins the song for me. So boring.
What is it you guys don't like about I Will Not Accept The Truth, a killer tracks imo that, sadly, has already gone?

71: Believil
Average Score: 6.19
Tyranny of Souls 2/10

When I saw how low this song scored I did a double-take and immediately re-did the math. Excuse me but this is bullshit. I get why this wouldn't exactly be the most beloved song but there's so much going for it - it's a musical representation of evil: oozing, building evil, and I love it. Maybe there's less to it than some songs, but come on. It's awesome. The chorus is one of Bruce's best moments solo. *Sigh* Anyways, this is a very low rank. Sad jams.

On another note, I think this so far features the most quotes I've been able to find for any song in this list. Other than Number 6 and mine, however, all of them are quotes speaking out against this song.

Choice comments:

I dont like the intro riff. It is way too "under" the earth, the underwater type.
Bruce dickinsons voice is clear - But it is way too "evil" sounding - That could
have been reduced. The chorus is uninteresting, and so is the drums. I guess
there's not so much good to say about this song, sorry. It is just too boring,
and could might as well be put as a B-side. The lyrics tho, are poetically
great, and i guess that saved the song. I couldnt hear no guitar solo.
No thank you.
must be one of the worst things he's ever done.
Believil on the other hand is a piece of crap.
Now, BeliEvil is what you could call the albums let-down track, if only because it is the least memorable of the albums songs. This is really nothing special, and it is also a bit boring.
As for TOS the only songs I think as fillers are the intro and Believil.
The only bad song [on TOS].
it's worse.
Devil On A Hog is 2nd worst song on the album IMO (only Believil is worst and I don't count the intro)
Speaking of beasts, there's also this brooding, rising, oosing, monster of a track. This absolutely screams "evil" and boy oh boy do I like that.
Very consistent song, great title and lyrics. I like the dark mood throughout.
Believil, for example, could've been amazing, but it ends up being a mess.

About that, I swear, soon I'll be giving "Apparition" a full-on 10/10.

I have a slight suspicion that Believil is Bruce Dickinson's version of The Apparition - the two of us are its only major fans.
I like "Believil". It doesn't blow me away, but it's definitely a good song. I can't believe stuff like "Hell On Wheels" and "Change Of Heart" and "Dreamstate" have beaten it...

Oh dear, you certainly won't like where Change of Heart landed on this list. As for the other two, prepare to breathe a sigh of relief in a few moments.

70: Fire
Average Score: 6.24/10
Balls To Picasso 1/10

Another album joins the list, and with that, all we're waiting on is for The Chemical Wedding to make an appearance. Spoilers: we'll be waiting a while for that one. Anyways, this is the lowest ranked BTP track, which is great because I'm not a fan of it. Bruce has done far better than this trivial ditty. The chorus is awful. In fact, whereas Believil should've been much higher, this one might even warrant placing a few spots lower. Eh. Glad it's out already.

Choice comments:

I also like Fire the least from BtP. But have you heard the live version on Alive in Studio A? Pretty cool solo part, if my memory serves me right.
Never understood the dislike for Fire.
Not one of my favourites, but it's a catchy, groovy little track.
Not a bad song but also not particularly exciting and another chorus that doesn't flatter Bruce's voice. In general, I don't really like Bruce's vocals during this period. The music usually makes up for it on this album, but he's clearly going through a bit of a musical identity crisis after Maiden.
The most meh song on the whole album. It's not bad, but the chorus is the kinda thing you expect to hear when you're listening to the radio and an ad for an artist from the '80s you can only remember two songs from comes on and they're telling you that you'll love their new tour and yadda yadda. This is the kind of song they'd play in the commercial. No thanks.

Tattooed Millionaire 5/10

Tattooed Millionaire rears its ugly (your thoughts, not mine) head again to reveal that half of its songs have appeared on the countdown already. Sad. Underrated album. Anyway, "Hell On Wheels". Catchy song, fun chorus. Jer has been waiting so long to see it ousted. Rest easy. It's hard to steer when the devil's driving, and some devil must've assembled this list. Wonder why "Believil" was so long then... huh. Anyways, #69 goes rightfully to another of Bruce's sexcapades. Fun fun fun! Yes. *coughs* "Hell On Wheels", out ya go.

Choice comments:

Very fun song. Great chorus. Not as good as the past three but very enjoyable.
Along with TAATG, Holy Smoke and Hell On Wheels are some of Maiden's worst songs of all time.
Confusing Tattooed Millionaire with No Prayer For The Dying, Travis?
Oh ya, I meant From Here To Eternity.
