I've just realised I can remember the precise day Maiden was formed.

My parents bought our house in Gainsborough (where I grew up) in 1975, but it needed some work so we ended up staying in a rented house for 6 months which included one Christmas. So that had to be the Christmas of 1975. I remember it distinctly because it was the only Christmas we ever spent in that house.

Who knows, it could have been at the very same moment I was unwrapping a Mickey Mouse bicycle bell that Steve was establishing the institution that years later would change my life forever, and for the better. And my mother was always so scathing of "East End scruffs" - funny old world!
