Well that's just wrong in my opinion. How do your employers expect you to keep up with the going-ons around here if you are only allowed access on breaks?

I'm sorry to hear this Child. I used to apply this rule for a long time, no forums, personal calls etc during work. Some emails from time to time but not much.. Now I've loosen but still, I'm trying to control myself..
Unfortunately they are not 100% wrong. These things take away your concentration..

I remember a wise foreman when I was working in ship repairs, used to tell me: bring not your personal life at work, and bring not the life of work at home.. He was right. Trying to keep those boundaries tight, it's a good advice.

My IT department at my work used their mystical computer powers and somehow caught that I was on here and they then told my manager who then told me about and said it was a "no no" to go on social type sites.

A couple months ago actually. When I kind first started on the forums. For some reason, I thought I could get away with it. Silly me!

I see Well, I don't see it as a big problem actually... I think it is fairly normal that people are told not to use forums/social network sites etc...you are far from the only one that has happened to (happens to almost everyone who has worked that kind of job)

Of course! It just sucks that you can't have that sort of freedom at work but I totally understand why. I've gotten over it and moved on.
