The rest of the setlist has in my books at least 50% chance to reappear. They will not drop Infinite Dreams for good after 38 year hiatus and not even do a full tour with it. I wouldn't mind if they retired Wasted Years but as long as its not in the next tour (better not be!)

I don't think they will drop Wasted Years anymore. I guess it will become their dedicated closer track, like Living After Midnight for Judas Priest or Paranoid for Black Sabbath.

Yeah, I also think Infinite Dreams will be like Alexander after the tour, even without new material, but let's see since Simon has played it live.

It remains to be seen, let's not be that sure with Maiden now. And Bruce said most of the current setlist needs to be dropped for a next tour. I guess they will want to play Running Free again. Maybe Wasted Years stayed because of the super cool backdrop for this tour.

They dropped most of the Future Past tour setlist for this tour too, but Wasted Years stayed. And not just stayed, it stayed as a closer. So that's my guess, that they want to keep it as a closer for the remaining few years.

It makes sense thematically. It's kinda funny how it skipped quite a few tours throughout the years, only to secure its position in the setlist on the home stretch of Maiden's career.

Yeah. Bruce saying they will drop 90% of this set is obviously an exaggeration. Iron Maiden, Fear of the Dark and The Trooper is given. If they want to keep Wasted Years, that's already 4 songs. And I can't see them dropping TNOTB or Hallowed anymore. So that's 6 songs which is 99% sure they will play. The Evil That Men Do will definitely return. That's 7. So we have maybe 8 or 9 other songs, depending on the length of them. Doing a fair amount of reunion songs would be logical, but who knows. It depends on if they do a new album or not. But I don't expect another TFP like tour with that many classics left out.
 
Hopefully they have some egg on their faces after Infinite Dreams went over so well this year. So weird that they ignored it after 1988.

Same with Flight of Icarus which was ignored 1986-2019.

They're not a pop band, it's not like they have to come out and play a set full of "hits" ... they barely have any. They can mix it up.

Well, not quite "barely". The Number Of The Beast, Run To The Hills, The Trooper, 2 Minutes To Midnight, The Evil That Men Do, Fear Of The Dark. Wasted Years might be getting there too. I'd say those are the ones that most casual listeners are familiar with. Also the ones that might be know in the "mainstream", with things like the appearance of The Trooper in the final season of Stranger Things, or many of those songs still being played on the radio in some cases. We could make a case for songs like Aces High and Wrathchild as well, but imo the previously mentioned ones are the core "classics". Basically a bunch of 80s singles, for the most part lol

But your general point stands. With TFP they showed that they are willing to ditch a lot of the expected songs. That they are willing to mix things up and go for some deep cuts. RFYL was one of their "safest" setlists, given the theme, so I could see them being much more adventurous with the next one again.

I agree. But that said, I'd say RFYL is still adventourous enough. Especially the 2026 version.

The safest setlist that Maiden ever played, considering the tour and the theme was TFF, the 2011 leg. Minus Dance Of Death and maybe Blood Brothers it didn't feature any interesting songs from the past. And that one was played in 2010 too.

Yeah, I remember being pretty disappointed when I saw the setlist for En Vivo. Big overlap with Rock In Rio, and the only unique songs were the TFF songs, despite there not being that many of them. And I guess Running Free with the reunion line up. As far as album tour setlists go, this wasn't that adventurous. Which is a shame, given the reunion-heavy 2010 leg.

I also think a setlist with interesting reunion songs is worthy as well. Having so many stellar reunion songs across 2010 - 11 was a nice novelty and I'd say playing DoD, BB, BNW and Wickerman alongside TFF material was brilliant. En Vivo is still a real favourite of mine.

Not sure why they should have egg on their faces although i take your point about these songs being ignored for decades live.
I imagine they will be taking credit for bringing them back and those songs being massively successful with the crowds, even if it did take longer than it should.:bigsmile:

I wonder if we will hear Icarus again. Sadly I doubt it. Luckily I heard it in 2022.
 
I don’t think Icarus is that unlikely. Revelations might be the most likely though of Piece of Mind songs.
