Personally I reckon it means that they will drop the lesser spotted songs. We will never see 7th Son or Rime again. Infinite Dreams? Forget about it. But ye can be damn sure that we will see 2 Mins and Run to the Hills again.

I do believe in the hint of a post reunion material setlist. Murders or Killers won't be in that set but 2 Mins or somethin probably will be.

Sventh rime murders killers infinite dreams and phantom and aces high. I think. Next tour new album and rare songs like fpt and maybe another tour playing songs of all the albums and we are lucky another tour. That would take a lot of years with break and tour in legs different continents. So.... the thing is of they are going to play after that. Apart from that album and hits tour i dont see them being rolling stones . I dont se them playing with 76 to 80 years old. Because the kind of show or music they play is not like other bands. Black sabbath are retired maybe forced due to ozzy and dio deaths but tony iommi said that he doesnt want to tour or play live and even the reahersal for the last show were hard for him. So.. i think its obvoius that we will not se some of the songs never again.
 
As for the other Epics, I agree, but ID might make a comeback. They neglected it for so long and only now realise that it is a great live song.

As for statements like Tommy Iommi’s, they don’t mean much. It’s so individual. There are 80-year-olds who can barely walk and others who can run a marathon.

Rolling stones are still playing but im sure maiden will not do that. Its a different type of show. Im sure that there will be 2 more tours but that take 5 or 6 years so after that i dont see them playing.

But don't forget that Iommi has lymphoma for 15 years now. I don't know the english word for it, but they can't cure it. They just keep it in control. So it's not surprising that he doesn't want to do long tours anymore. He said he might be up for one off shows here and there, but not tours. He gets treatment in like every 3 weeks if I remember correctly.

Yes he said that he was tired even with standing for hours for the reheaarsals. But what i mean that i dont see them playing at their 80s. I think they are between their 68 and 72 so 6 year more for steve for ex... 78. That is a good moment for retiring. I mean i love them but i know someday they will retire and they deserve it.

I think we will get one more album and then the tour and if we are lucky a last good farewell tour ( ill be disapointed if they dont do that) but that would take 5 or 6 years

Just saw Megadeth and Maiden last night in Minnesota at the new open-air amphitheater in Shakopee, which is a quick 15 minute drive from my house. Just under 20K capacity, looked sold out to me.

Megadeth sounded great musically, but Mustaine’s voice is completely shot. Still, nice to see them one more time (last time was the Countdown tour for me), and the set list was good.

Maiden were awesome, with Bruce sounding really strong (minus the “Aces High” encore, of course). This was also my first time seeing the band with Simon, and he was totally fine, though not as jazzy and fun as peak Nicko.

Really nice backgrounds and quick costume changes, mostly great set list (though I would have traded some Di’anno tracks out to get “Judas Be My Guide” and one or two NPFTD tracks in there), can’t really complain beyond nitpicks.

Unfortunately, the slant on the amphitheater seating was pretty shallow, and some a-holes insisted on standing up for the whole show, which forced everyone behind them to stand in order to be able to see. Since I’ve developed some health issues that would prevent me from standing for very long, my $200 dead center seats became useless for direct viewing because of this, and I had to cock my neck to watch most of the show off the screens instead. Really annoying. Oh well.

Can confirm pretty much all of this from last night's show. Bruce's voice was seriously live album-worthy--in fact, better than a handful of performances they've officially released. Aces was the only noticeable dip, though I wouldn't say it entered cringe territory. His attempted highs just kind of disappeared instead of any awkward croaks.

And yeah, this was the first show I've taken my aging ass into the seats instead of in the pit. Would have welcomed being able to use my seat, but yep, the shallow grade had most people standing throughout the whole of the show. As for my nitpicks, while I love Murders, it's kind of a strange and obscure opener for a hits-heavy setlist. And odd the intro is just the recording, and Simon doesn't come in until the opening fill. If there's one song I could've swapped out for a deep cut like Judas or OtGDY, it'd be that one. And swap Aces for Tailgunner, the idea that's been beaten to death.

The only reason to play Tailgunner is that they could keep using the Aces animation. Otherwise it's a song the great majority of audiences do not know.

The more obvious reason is to represent No Prayer in a set billed as songs from the first nine albums. Yes, fewer casuals know it, but I'd say Murders is equally obscure to those fans. However, as we're approaching the end of the tour, all our minor gripes are moot. The set is what it is, despite what we would've liked to have instead.

When I first saw maiden on the future past tour, I only new trooper, FOTD, and wasted years. I didn't have the damndest idea what any other song was. But it was still fucking awsome. So no few causals not knowing it won't matter.
 
"Maiden doesn't play lesser known songs" -> "Casuals don't know these songs" -> "Maiden doesn't play them" -> "Casuals don't know them" -> ... Repeat forever.

It's a damn cycle. There are probably quite a few fans who saw Maiden live and didn't know Sign of the Cross and/or The Clansman back in 2000, but thanks to Rock In Rio both of those songs became classics. Lord Of The Flies was another inspired choice in 2003, though that one never returned.
When I saw them in 2013 playing Maiden England, there were a bunch of people in the audience who clearly weren't familiar with Afraid To Shoot Strangers or SSOASS (the title track). There will always be people in the audience who don't know chunks of the setlist.

The point is: Playing a long forgotten song to new audiences can give it new life. Going "no one knows it" is self defeating.
