News 18th Studio Album discussion

Forget my previous comment about EddFest.

Just copied this from the official website from an announcement they made in Feb this year about the 2 dates in Japan in November:

“And now, the band are returning once more with their spectacular new production, to perform for the first time at the K-Arena in the city. These two shows will be extra special as they are the very last shows the band will play until at least 2028, as they take a well-earned break from being on the road for the whole of 2027.”

They definitely say here no more shows until at least 2028 which could imply an even longer break than a year!

Regarding the post-reunion short rockers, I personally rate Death or Glory as a very good - perhaps even great - song. I’ve always had a soft spot for it. It may not be better than The Wicker Man, but it’s not very far behind. It’s a great cruising-type rocker.

To me, it’s a hundred times better than Wildest Dreams.

As for Rainmaker, Different World, and Stratego (which I also like), I don’t think they’re bad songs in any way. However, I find them a little too mellow to classify as true rockers. I perceive Rainmaker and Stratego more as dreamy short songs - songs sung by seers and prophets, if that makes any sense.

Death or Glory, on the other hand, has at least a touch of the attitude and swagger that a rocker needs. There’s a bit more bite and emotion to it.
Bruno doesn't like Different World, so I doubt we're ever gonna get it to hear again.

From the classic rock interview:

Will there be another Iron Maiden album?

“I keep saying to Steve: ‘Do you want to do another album?’ And he’s like: ‘Well, no, not really,’” claims Dickinson.

“I’d be up for doing one,” Harris insists. “So you can’t rule it out, but we haven’t planned one as yet. The rest of them wanted to take next year off, and I didn’t, to be honest. But it is what it is.”

Ugh...so frustrating as a fan. In that context, it sounds a little "taking my ball and going home"-ish, that his overall stance is he doesn't want to do an album and "I didn't want to take next year off--they did." (Yes, I know he just said "I'd be up for one," but other interviews and Bruce's statements speak to the contrary) But I have to remind myself that he's in his 70s now. The band is active waaaaaaaay longer than anyone expected--even the band themselves. So, it's a bit selfish and perhaps entitled to keep wishing for "a little bit more," when the big honcho behind it might not feel up to it anymore.

Might be about time to just let it go. If it happens, bonus. At least Bruce is still more than happy to keep producing albums, we have one on the way, and I love all his solo stuff, which is a plus (yes, even Mandrake...minus Sonata, perhaps).

Steve is probably being honest, but at the same time we know that Maiden like to work ''in secret'' about new music. At least he said he'd be up for doing one, but his enthusiasm is low atm (given other interviews too). I never thought he would be like this, it's sad and honestly I envy the other old bands. It's odd because he is the creative force of the band, now he just wants to tour with no concept?
Plans could be made towards the end of the tour for next year, there is time. Or early 2028 at the latest, but they would have to release it in the summer, and then tour soon after. 2027 is more suitable for them. I still believe in, but it seems like Steve is holding back on the new music while the other members touring next year. Fair enough. It is what it is, what can we do. The pressure is that big on him? He probably would want to write a few songs on his own again.

Btw, is this the most recent interview on this stance?
Something that doesn't really get much discussion on this thread ironically is, assuming they'll do one - "what would you want the new album to sound like?" - in terms of writing style, song style etc?
I guess similar to the last 2 albums, maybe a little influenced by the 80s style (the current tour) and Simon's drumming. I hope for faster (hence shorter) songs, along with the usual interesting long epics.

Bruce want to record a new album during the year off
Steve wants to tour and no year off,but if they choose to record he will do it
The rest of the band seems to want a year off and maybe closer to a new album rather than another tour.
That could be the situation if that interview didnt change what they said.
