Thanks for sharing the video. It never ceases to amaze me that venues are allowed to sell seats from where you mostly can just see the back of the musicians!
I remember having tickets once for a show upper level BEHIND the stage. No curtain, just had to try and look thru everything else. It was for John Cougar Mellancamp, or John Cougar, or John Mellancamp - I can't remember what name he was going by at the time

Set 1, Beta setlist:

1. Xanadu

2. The Spirit of Radio

3. The Analog Kid

4. Freewill

5. Subdivisions

6. Bravado

7. Leave That Thing Alone

8. The Trees

9. Headlong Flight

10. Limelight

I'd say, minus "La Villa", this one is a stronger one than set Alpha.

Complete "Beta" setlist:

7. Leave That Thing Alone
8. The Trees
9. Headlong Flight
10. Limelight

Intermission

11. 2112 (FULL!)
12. Animate
13. Closer To The Heart
14. A Passage to Bangkok
15. Time Stand Still
16. YYZ
17. Anthem
18. Red Barchetta
19. Witch Hunt
20. Tom Sawyer

Encore

21. Finding My Way
22. Working Man

What a setlist this is. Possibly one of their best. The only 2 songs I'm sad they are gone are La Villa and The Garden. Everything else is an improvement. Kinda glad that Red Sector A is gone and won't be performed every night as it sounded wrong with acoustic drums IMO.

Am I right in thinking they changed 10 songs between both nights???
Well, it's complicated as they did 2112 in its entirety, which was completely unexpected.

If they are counting 2112 as 1 song, there should be 7 songs left to make their tour debut. If they count the 2112 parts as songs, there should be no more tour debuts. But, I think they count it as one.

From what we have seen so far, setlists Alpha and Beta (they call them this) are massively different. Since there are only 7 songs left, I'd imagine those 2 will be the basis for Gamma and Delta with changes to "less important" songs like Dreamline, DEW or Red Sector A. My prediction for setlist Gamma on friday:

Xanadu
Limelight
Far Cry
Subdivisons
Freewill
Bravado (dedicated to Neil)
The Anarchist
La Villa Strangiato
Vital Signs
The Spirit Of Radio

2112: Overture, Temples, Grand Finale
Distant Early Warning
Red Barchetta
Dreamline
The Camera Eye
Time Stand Still
New World Man
YYZ
The Garden
Tom Sawyer

Fly By Night (only song teased in the intro not played yet)
Working Man

And I predict a similar thing with setlist Delta that should be based on Beta from tonight.

I wouldn't expect Fly By Night. Geddy is on the record (pun partially intended) as saying he doesn't like that song.

This Rock Band’s 1976 Single Was Their First To Chart in the US—and the Lead Singer Hates It
Rush hasn’t performed “Fly by Night” since 1978. Lifeson wanted to reincorporate the track into the band’s setlist for its R40 tour in 2015; however, as he told Rolling Stone, he thought that “Geddy felt that he’d really have a problem singing it.”

Lee opened up about the track in his 2023 memoir, My Effin’ Life, and it’s abundantly clear that it’s not his favorite Rush song. “It sounds kinda dinky to me! … To my taste, there was something too sugary, too corny about the chorus…it’s never wrapped its arms around me.”

I like the song, especially the first minute, but I do think they repeat the chorus one too many times at the end.

Last, but not least, it is nice to see how a band like Rush manages to sound great on the first show of the tour after such a long break, without needing some shows at the start of the tour to be match fit.
I think they rehearse for almost a year. But i agree with you. Any band should be prepared from the start (maybe with just minor adjustments to do).

IM in this matter has been a mess since future past (iirc).

Full list of songs for the tour leaked:

It is legit as the names of the guitars appear on the truss rod covers (for example "Deke" is the main black LP Axcess, "Heavy Bastard" is the doubleneck, "Kirk" is the Greeny reissue, "Tom" is a Tom Murphy 60's aged LP Standard etc...)

It is as expected. I'd say the possible setlist Gamma I posted earlier could happen, just substitute Fly By Night with A Farewell To Kings...
