Saw the documentary Friday night here in India. A few things:The movie finally came out in Germany, just got back from the premiere. I have quite a few gripes as far as editing and filmmaking in general go, but overall it was a good time. I had fun, and that's the most important thing.
Though, I can't let go of that one: When they were talking about having now three guitars at their disposal, they showed footage of RiR's Brave New World. The part right after the solos with the triple harmony. Yet the sound was the solos right before that part. What the hell was up with that? I get that solos are flashier, but that's the one part where they could've kept sound and video synced lol
And they speaked about one era and put videos or pictures of other tour. SIT and SSOASS doesnt appear and when the do its maiden england video the extended songs( the worst) that was weird. But i liked the early days, the world conquer, the fall to the lowest level and the return of bruce and adrian and the brutal succes worldwide. And i liked to see genne simons saying when iron maiden play anywhere the stadium is full. Lets see this tour but until now since 2000 they are gone bigger and bigger. I doubt nobody of the band expected this level of succes in 1999Saw the documentary Friday night here in India. A few things:
1. How in the fucking world do you completely ignore them Somewhere in Time & Sevent Son era?! Like how dare you!! Those albums (esp Seventh Son) really highlighted Maidens work in the 80s.
2. They should have added more meat on Adrian leaving the band in 1990.
3. Talk about how Arry had the chance to play for West Ham or pursue a life in music.
4. Call out some of the earlier members (Paul Day, Doug Sampson, Dennis Wilcox, etc)
All in all, it was a pretty decent documentary but they could have made it slightly longer & add some of this information.
Loved experiencing their music in the theater though.
$413,000 in NA is just Weekend Gross, Total Gross (so far) is $843,568$413,000 North American gross.
Well spotted. German gross should be interesting, will worldwide overall total top $3 million?$413,000 in NA is just Weekend Gross, Total Gross (so far) is $843,568
Not bad for niche docum. Iron Maiden is #12 on the Top 20 list.
I think 2,5 mln - not bad.Well spotted. German gross should be interesting, will worldwide overall total top $3 million?
Here in spain was on cinemas just for 2 days i think and in many cinemas.I thought the cinema release was going to be quite pointless, but the movie is clocking up weekend top ten box office placements in quite a few countries. It is obviously not a box office monster like the Michael biopic, but it has proved to have done pretty well for what is ultimately a niche documentary movie.
And it has got some decent reviews too….though I remain unmotivated to see it at the cinema myself, and will wait for streaming.
I am wonder if it actually gets any new fans….probably not yet, but maybe once on streaming.
Yeah the Gene Simmons interview was a shocker. There was this 1 kiss interview where the interviewer had worn a Maiden T-shirt and those idiots made him wear the tshirt inside out just cause it was a Maiden tshirt for a Kiss interview. Little things like these are seriously annoying. And they speaked about one era and put videos or pictures of other tour. Yes it was cool to see that guy speaking like this about iron maiden. And about the grunge. Now you cant feel the "fight" between the grunge and metal, because most of the people doesnt bother to listen to bothYeah the Gene Simmons interview was a shocker.
