I hope Rob sees this.
Bruce really likes SFV. It's so odd to hear his vocals on a Priest song. Nice. I liked it.
Thanks for sharing the video. The band sounds really good, but the vocal performance was quite rough in places.
Maybe it's because of Bruce's (quite) movement during the show? Or because of the trips to SA, like in recent years.
Edit: The keytar solo on Laughing in the Hiding Bush is hideous.
Some keytar solos fit (I love the one in Accident), but I agree about Laughing. It's fitting for its album, but the song doesn't need it.
I'm pleasantly surprised with Flash of the Blade (somebody made a funny bum note at 58:03-58:05 though).
I knew he would do it a proper justice.
That solo is vile and there is absolutely no need for it. I don't get it why there needs to be a keytar solo in almost every song.
Every song? The songs with keytar solos/prominent parts:

  • Accident (it's perfect imo, wish there was a 2nd solo in the studio version)
  • Abduction (3-part solo, it really fits)
  • Laughing (not a fan)
  • Book (it's cool, but kind of odd)

  • Road (doesn't fit)
  • Tower (it fits)

Why songs with no solo like Shadow or Resurrection Men (or even to extend the Chemical Wedding one?) don't have one?
It's great that he was able to find band members that function so well together— that's harder than some people think.
True that.
Awesome show! I must say that again - this linup must record album & release live album because they're on fire.
This next solo album is very, very important for the band. They have to deliver big time. Live/concert album is a must.

I don´t know if you saw Eyes Of A Stranger from a few weeks ago on YT? It was godawful but apparently he was sick.
Yeah from the pro shot festival gig? Yeah, the whole gig was pretty rough (they posted the entire gig the day of the broadcast, then reposted Eyes of a Stranger recently). Seemed like he had a cold because there was a ton of register cracks when going between head and falsetto. Let's just say that the vocals didn't sound like that when I caught him last year.

Flash Of the Blade sounds really good. And I'll go as far as saying that, despite Bruce being far from the form he was in back 1984, IMO the chorus sounds better without the falsetto back vocals.

It would be cool to have other live debut Maiden songs penned by Bruce (or Bruce/ Adrian) in future gigs.

I like both versions of Flash Of The Blade's chorus equally. But the studio one has an impact for sure.

He said he won't play co-written Maiden songs. Well, bummer.
