What are the top 5 worst Maiden songs?

Lost In A Lost World
No More Lies
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
Invasion
Blood On The World's Hands
The thin line between love and hate?????? WTF. That chourus "i will die my soul will fly and i will live forever" imposible not to sing it. And the ending showing how bruce can manage all styles. And blood on the world hands
And lost in a lost world.... the most xfctor song of senjutsu. Agree with no more lied

Finally my thread!

Total Eclipse: This song had so much potential but I despise the final product. The unmusical howling at the end of the song hits impressive pitches but it is the definition of obnoxious for me.

Speed Of Light: Swing and what a freaking miss. The only redeeming part to this one is "shadows in the stars" being a badass lyric. The rock'n'roll type songwriting has never been my thing and the nonsensical key changes in the verses (resulting in almost random sounding vocal melodies) just further drag this one down.

Sun And Steel: Kinda combines my issues with the previous tracks. Bruce is doing his best to annoy me and the truly obnoxious chorus just keeps being repeated for ever. People keep complaining about TAATG but that one at least had the decency to change each chorus up by either altering the dynamics or the chord progression (or both). Sun And Steel (and a few other tracks on POM really) just keep repeating the same part far too often.

The Apparation: Simultaneously too long for the amount of ideas in it and too simple for its length. The general idea is fine I suppose, but the actual execution leaves a lot to be desired.

Invaders: Great verses, the howling starts in the pre-chorus and then we get a chorus so embarassing that I'm in awe that a bunch of grown-ass adults could go in the studio and record that song unironically. There's a reason it's the only album opener to never having been played live.

I find this really hard to answer. I was thinking recently about which Maiden songs I think are completely meritless, 'cause there are quite a few songs (some mentioned in this thread) that I think are pretty weak overall but have some redeeming moments, like a strong instrumental section or solo/s (The Apparition, Weekend Warrior), a particularly good performance from Bruce (New Frontier) or great energy (Deja Vu), so I can't call them totally bad or "the worst".

The first one that springs to mind as almost totally meritless is Mother of Mercy. Sounds like a weak AMOLAD leftover, the chorus has Bruce struggling and being awkwardly pasted over himself and the lyrics take a jarring turn from war to religion like Steve got bored and decided to change subject matter about halfway through.

As for the other four worst songs... I dunno, they're probably so bad that I never listen to them and have forgotten they exist

Weekend Warrior
Wasting Love
Mother of Mercy
The Man Who would Be King
Starblind

To be honest I’d put a few more more here than those 5 if I was allowed but these are instant skips for me when I am album binging - There are quite a lot from No Prayer, Fear of the Dark and a couple from Dance of Death and The Final Frontier that deserve the flack they get that I haven’t mentioned here but I am going by the recent album listens so these are most fresh in my mind.

- Senjutsu (the most boring, bloated, piece of crap song they’ve ever released)
- Another Life (typical boring Killers track)
- Darkest Hour (I usually like their ballad-y songs, but not this one)
- Murders in the Rue Morgue (I find a lot of the songs on Killers quite boring)
- Twilight Zone (just kind of meh)

I actually like many of the songs people hate the most: The Angel and the Gambler, The Apparition, Weekend Warrior, The Assassin.

When Steve wrote the literally impossible to sing in one go Mother of Mercy and Lightning Strikes Twice choruses was he just in a bad mood with the singer that day?

Well we know he was in a grump in the late 90’s but I think he was just trying to do a bad album with Final Frontier

I really like reading your replies here. I can definitely understand why many of you don't like certain songs.

Ι always thought it's too bloated and boring, but I didn't classify it as bad. I do understand though
Just feels like the same riff and tempo over and over for decades. Needed Harry to crowbar in a gallop section like he did for Brighter than a thousand suns

There are quite a few bad songs in Maiden's discography. Songs that I would rate a 2-3/10.

But there are only five songs by Iron Maiden that I would rate as a 1/10. The absolute bottom of the barrel...

Drifter
Gangland
The Apparition
Weekend Warrior
The Angel and the Gambler
