RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I don’t have a problem with the setlist, even Aces High. We got Rime, Seventh Son, Phantom, and Powerslave on the same show, plus a bunch of hits. I’ll take it.

But I didn’t react well to the drum sound. It’s just so different from Nicko. I’ll give it time to grow on me. I hope it will.

This is potentially Maiden's biggest ever tour (in terms of venue size and ticket sales) and there's no way they'd opt to play something from one of their least liked albums instead of the (casual) fan favourite.

This is the tour production trap that Maiden keeps falling for the last 40 years: Treating each show as if the majority of people inside would see Maiden for the first time ever resulting to play the same 1980 -1992 classics again and again where the real hard core base care much more for the works from BNW onwards.

I bet for most of Maidenfans, AMOLAD and last year's with Alexander the Great, are among their top 3 beloved tours ever.

Aces High as an opener in 1999 was majestic and brutal, Bruce was somewhat able to make it sound good.

Don't need it like this, it's sad ( and I replay love that song)

Tailgunner or BYDTTS should've been the choice
I can stomach it, and it was listenable.

... But no Maiden performance should only be "listenable", so I concur.

Low points:
- no song from No Prayer and Fear of the dark. (I dont count Fear obviously) meaning also nearly no Janick. This is so disrespectful to both to the fans who love these albums and to Janick. If band didnt promote the tour like that, ok.
- no deep cut like Infinite Dreams even though it’s the name of the book.
- 2nd walking Eddie
- Simon’s little kit.
- Aces High at the encore. Bruce having hard time.
- no tame a land, still life, or anyother cult song like Alexander in the previous tour.
- no tributes to Paul or Clive. And the colorless soulless Bruce speeches.
- same ending with Wasted Years. I never heard they ended their sets in two tours in a row.
- the merch designs except the reprinting of Clairvoyant with candles.

Highpoints:
- seeing your favorite band still on fire having fun on stage.
- Cinematic Mariner experience.
- First Killers part. With no cell phone policy the first few rows were like Live at the Rainbow.
- some of the visuals. Hallowed especially.

Sorry to say that Im happy I sold my tickets. This has to be the most overhyped yet most dissapointing setlist ever. And 3 epics is just waste of time. Rime is more than enough. Instead of 7th son,FoTD and Phantom we could have had rarely played hits like Infinite Dreams, Be Quick, Still Life, Sea of madness and No prayer for the dying. Oh well at least I can listen to Raphael Mendes and his band playing the deep cuts lol. This is just my opinion Im happy for all of ya who likes this set!
These songs being "rarely played hits" is a misnomer. Maybe to us Maiden nerds but not to most fans.

Reading some comments. I'm not a fan of showing clips during a song (like they did for some), but to dislike this production and not find it cool is wild. I mean, what else is to expect in the metal world now? As with every tour, the band could have used some other interesting ideas for the stuff on backdrops/screens (we're Maiden nerds), but overall the show is very effective. Different and modern, unusual for Maiden.
Distracting for some songs, I can agree, but to say they didn't do a special production? Unlike the setlist. Using something new at this stage of their career is probably a surprise, playing the same hit songs is probably expected, but it's a huge letdown (even with their history), especially the encore. Maybe they'll play more deep cuts in a potential new album tour, who knows. This tour will be like ME, an afterthought and a big missed opportunity. Maybe Steve is against different/changing songs, considering Bruce's solo tour approach, idk. This is their biggest tour 50 years in, but it's typical and at the same time atypical know of such a predictable mix of the usual 80's cuts sets.

As for Simon, there are negative comments, but he can't be compared with Nicko. And I think some songs need a bigger drum kit, now listening to better videos. He plays Clive's songs better methinks. Nicko's fills and feel/tempo are tricky. Simon is more of a modern and hard hitter drummer, he has his own style ofc. The energy was pretty solid though. But it's a first show, big job, so kudos. I think Bruce and Adrian want him to play Trooper and Wasted Years slower. And he's Bruce's age after all, plus he probably hasn't been on constant touring his whole live and playing those not easy songs.

Something interesting I've personally noticed from the footage is that it seems Janick's mostly been sticking to his corner of the stage and not really moving around all that much. I saw him around the middle, in front of Simon in one clip but other than that he seems unusually planted in one corner.

Just looked at the setlist. Wow. Didn't expect many deep cuts or surprises, but to be THAT lame...
Not gonna spoil but all you people who hoped for some true unearthing of some gems... You won't be smiling.
I love the setlist. A perfect representation of CLASSIC Maiden. But I would not have had Aces as an encore. They played it at the tempo it was meant to be played but it should have been the opener if they were to have it. I do understand that they wanted to feature Killers at the beginning though. When the images started I almost thought they might do Tailgunner, and I would have been fine with that.

The production was amazing. Something new and different for Maiden as they've been dogged in the past about never changing their stage

I just remembered that a few days ago on the setlist discussion thread I did a deliberately lame setlist packed with the most boring overplayed songs as a joke … and they’re actually playing nine of the fourteen songs that I included.

As for under/overrepresentation of certain albums:

TNOTB sorta kinda got its spotlight in 2007, but even beyond that close to half the album has been more or less constantly in the setlists for ages.
Powerslave hat SBIT, SIT got its chance with TFP and SSOASS with Maiden England.
The 90s albums obviously aren't ever gonna get something like that.
LOTB in a sense was the tour for POM, being pretty heavy on songs from that album.
And we also had the Early Days tour of course.

This makes the current tour kinda interesting in that it chose to focus on Killers quite a bit, as well as Powerslave. Fits with the theme of the tour though, I suppose.
2005 we got wratchild, murders, another life, drifter from that album.

2005 for me.

Watching the full concert now. I'm still at the beginning relatively (Powerslave) but imo Simon plays much better Clive's songs than Nicko. And for Nicko's songs he's great too. Wish they will record with him their next album.

That’s my evening sorted for when I get home tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!

I am curious to see how Maiden used the big screen and how it compares to the Imagine Dragons gig I went to yesterday.

It’s gorgeous man! I didn’t think I would like something Maiden so much in the year 2025, it’s great!

Simon is awesome too, maybe I’m a bit enthusiastic but my gut likes him more than Nicko, he has something of Clive Burr!!
