RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

While LOTB was fantastic I am thinking perhaps the band (and crew) saw how much stress it was doing the show with all the physical props, set changes, etc. The delay breaking down the pagodas was whack. To top LOTB with more of the same may have looked to be too much and they decided to go in this more modern direction with screens. A lot of their crew have been with them for years and they are not spring chickens anymore themselves. Just a thought...

This tour screams : Here, take all the hits and epics we have and good-bye. (We kinda play stadiums to get the most amount of people and their money on the way out)

Hope not though
I think they just picked some songs they wanted to play + the songs they had to play.
It's safe to assume that some songs will be retired after this tour : SSOASS, Rime, the Paul songs (except IM and maybe Wrathchild), Aces High hopefully, even Hallowed might not be safe. I don't think they are going to retire soon, but I think we aren't gonna get the chance to see Rime and SSOASS again and especially on the same tour.

Just now I put on Live After Death and listening to Bruce butchering it there, I realise having Aces High even as an opener felt rather sadistic even when he was 26. Keeping it as a live staple (I mean, even playing it regularly live at all) is downright diabolical and playing it as an encore now when he's 66 is just baffling.
I remember Hansi saying they can't have stuff like Curse of Feanor on their regular setlist because it would be unimaginable doing it every night.

As both Bruce and Steve (to some extent rod) are responsible for the setlist this is one of two things :

Bruce is completely unaware he sounds like shit
Steve is putting his foot down and trying to torture him

Even in 2008 and 2018 as opener it worked.

Overall the set was mostly to be expected, but was it really too much to use a little more imagination?

Steve has mentioned wanting to play Only The Good Die Young, both Nicko and Bruce have mentioned being fans of Sun And Steel, so how about add them in instead of talking about it?

Even the tiniest of changes would make the set so much better.

Infinite >> Clairvoyant
Sun And Steel or OTGDY>> 2 Mins
Tailgunner >> Aces
Running Free >> Wasted Years

That still retains the core of the casual favs but goes deeper at the same time.

It's revenge for the insufferable rants between songs in the past, isn't it?

All of this is true (note: one of Steve's favorite songs to play live is Evil That Men Do) and understandable (now), some of these songs are most likely played for the last time (although who knows after Aces again), but almost all had their chance over the years, while some rare, great and fitting songs for the tours not. How they not get tired of playing the same stuff, I guess except for the big 5 mandatory classics. With some changes (at least 4, the most 5, even 2), the set will be more interesting. 10-11 hits/classics plus 6-7 ''rare songs'' is a good recipe for every tour. With a new album is almost the same (5+5+5). The balance is important. For me, Maiden always make their tours interesting with something, unlike the other legacy bands, so a setlist like this (kudos about the new stage) is puzzling. Even with 11 (more or less) expected songs from it.

The real issue of the setlist are 2 songs from the encore! Really.

I just listened through a Spotify playlist of the set list and my only real complaint of the ordering of songs is Murders following Ides of March instead of Wrathchild. Why not just start the set with Ides and go directly into Wrathchild? Ides into Murders is something that will never quite sound right. It's weird.
Murders without its intro after Ides like in 2005 works. Wrathchild is a more anthemic song, but Murders is faster. They've never played it the way it is on the album for some reason.

I'd love Infinite Dreams and Only The Good Die Young instead of 2 Minutes would be perfect, but not very realistic.

Tailgunner would be a cool curiosity, but it's not even close to the league of Aces High; I'm just as eager as everyone to see Aces being dropped from its encore position, but if you ask an average concert goer, or even a band member, which of the two they find preferable, I wouldn't be shocked if a big majority of them chooses Aces High.

Personally, I find Tailgunner... okay and it would be fun live, but there's no big demand for it as a song outside the "NPFTD representation" side of it.

As for Running Free/Wasted Years suggestion, I have to say that I kind of expected them to do it, but since they didn't... well, in all honesty, as much as I like Running Free, I think Wasted Years is even better. :D

Can we stop talking about retirement?

They litteraly started a brand new world tour yesterday that will already run into 2026. Rejoice! Be excited! Stop the retirement nonsense. When it comes they'll let us know. But that won't be for a while.

Enjoy these moments everyone!
People is annoying sometimes. Were in 2025 and we are still getting a new effin IM tour. People should be thankfull.
