RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

They were definitely far more conservative with the Eddies than I would've assumed this time around. Not a lot of Eddies in the backgrounds, the new walk-on is just Killers Eddie from the promo art while the other one is a reused one, and the big Eddie is replaced with the screen. Not even a scribe Eddie for Seventh Son which I figured would be a shoe-in since it's the perfect visual spectacle for such a lengthy song.

Couple of details while they're still fresh.

Pin-up girl infatable during Charlotte was too much.

Simon changing drum intro to Where Eagles Dare was a travesty.

Bruce forgetting lyrics in "Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner" was WTF. HALF OF THE FUCKING LYRICS ARE IN THE TITLE BRO

Heart-shaped confetti during Wasting Love were a nice touch, NGL

The amount of complaints over the years about how naff the inflatable Eddie's looked and now we're complaining because it's CGI.
Well I always thought they were cool, other than the Stratego one. I think it had a big Eddie at least. I'm pretty sure it looked horrendous too. VXI also I think had one that looked so fucking heinous it should've been burned, but that's just because the Eddie itself for VXI was awful.

e: It didn't. What the fuck big Eddie am I thinking of that looked awful in 2022? Did they even have one?

It was an excellent set, but it ended with a squib. So all that awesome energy from the start and middle kind of drops....

That's how I feel. Finishing the set with the same song 3 out of 4 tours in a row just sucks.

I don't mind the closer, actually I would be thrilled to witness that again after 2016. Actually I was recently thinking Wasted Years might be my favourite Maiden song of all time.

The deepest cut was Rue Morgue.
Killers has been played a lot less overall, Murders appeared sporadically on WST, then again a few times in '98 until it became the opening track for '05. Killers was basically forgotten post-'82, a few shows in '88 and one tour in '99.

e: Well, looking over the statistics, the difference in how often they've each been played is negligible. Still, one was played in '05 and the other wasn't.

On less serious note:
- sound was great, I don't know of it's Pooch or venue or smt else
- there were a lot less phones in the air, noticeably. People actually respected what the sign said.
- on some songs the video screen is utilized perfecly, either as an interesting backdrop or follows the song but doesn't steal attention from the song/band itself. On some songs - it's just a screen , with a video playing. Work in progress I guess (even Bruce commented something like that)
- it's a looooong set. Kudos to them if they keep it up for the whole tour.
- Bruce really prepared himself for some songs and downtuned (for some, not all khm khm aces khm)
- also, Bruce is often absent from stage. Rants were good but a lot less interaction with crowd (scream for me etc).
- Song selection is two thumbs up, but their order is... kinda random?
- I didn't see nobody slitting wrists because they played a single song from the 90s. It doesn't mean it hasn't happened! It just means I hadn't seen it happen.
- dave just keeps getting younger each tour since 2013
- band (and Steve foremost) were in complete lock woth Simon (I think there was a hiccup twice, but it was an opening night). I didn't see them them running to drumriser to catch their place in song.
- Simon passed with flying colors, I admit I had no expectation, and he won me over.
- Overall, this really looks like a show for sitting area. That's why I'll aim for first rows tomorrow.

Good night

Killers is a much more popular song as well as being the title track of said album. That makes Rue Morgue a deeper cut to me.

This tour feels slightly rushed and under prepared - apart from screen. Sticking to the big hits and same usual structure, especially encore, shows a lack of interest in creating something a bit “different”.

Strikes me as very much, “let’s just go out play the hits and go” - same eddies same outfits same props. Seems a bit of a random tour tbh and wondering - what is the point of it?
