Awesome!a gamma ray picture of my jaw taken by my dentist that was coincidentally taken exactly the day Live After Death was recorded, picture still looks like new (taken March 14 1985, I was a ten year old and never heard about Maiden that day then... but a little later. But I found it more than 35 years later inside a box at my parents house and realized it was the exact recording date in Long Beach - so this thing is a MUST in my Maiden collection, a very personal one)
And it really looks like new! Was untouched since that day and sleeping inside that box at my parents place... And it's more than a photo. These gama ray pics back then werent digital, but it's a plate where the light got burned in. It says March 14 1985, 3:30 p.m. European time, so it was 6:30 a.m. pacific time, and probably band and crew were just about to begin their legendary day.Awesome!![]()
I mean, 1998 have extra video content and so much more artwork in the booklets. 2CD ones have B-sides which are mainly covers - no new songs. The best versions of the albums up to fear of the dark definitely aren’t the 1998 remasters:
I’d say the castle 2 disc versions are the absolute best. Then I’d take the original recordings and then the 2015 remasters ahead of the 1998 versions.
Almost 30 shirts now and 3 coffee mugs. And I also have Senjutsu on CD.I have some t-shirts, maybe 10 or so and two coffee mugs
Since this, I have acquired Beast Over Hammersmith on vinyl. I forgot that I had some DVD singles as well (Wildest Dreams, Rainmaker and Different World)I have all the studio and live albums (except BOH, Donn and ARLDO) on vinyl and CD. I also have a few CD singles and 7 inch singles. I’m glad I still have the blue Trooper 2005 7 inch.
We have a great vinyl and cd setup that we inherited. It’s nice when I have a free evening to go through the collection and listen to the B sides of singles that I drift existed.
I still have my DVDs as well.
I never miss a chance on this forum to mention that I snagged the Senjutsu boxset for £12.I have the usual stuff you’d except a collector to have, all the albums on vinyl and cd along with all the singles on cd, t-shirts, posters etc.
I guess my prized possessions would be:
- eddies head boxset with the 1998 remasters. Head is in mint condition, still got the certificate and the eye lights still work.
- first edition eddies archives.
- First 10 years singles cd boxset in mint condition.
- Mark Wilkinson signed prints of BOS and Senjutsu artwork (nicely framed).
- Signed derek Riggs Eddie sketch
- 1st edition of the run to the hills book signed by all current band members. Got this signed at the last fan club convention they did in 2000 the day after the metal 2000 brave new world tour gig at Earl’s Court.
- Signed by Bruce copy of the Mandrake project vinyl at the HMV signing session last year.
- finally the nemesis now large busts of Senjutsu, piece of mind and BOS. Not particularly rare but they look so cool (especially Senjutsu) and they were a birthday and Xmas present from the wife last year
- oh and not forgetting the Senjutsu special edition cd boxset. Not the fan club edition but that superb value for money boxset that I pre ordered for about £100 I think and can now be bought for about £15 online ha ha![]()
