Ok Ok... I'm going to get so much flak for this list. But here goes nothing:
- I love Prowler but not only should the band include Sanctuary on the record (I think some USA 1980 editions do) and it should be the opening theme.
- I think The Number Of The Beast is largely overrated album (not his influence in metal but its quality when comparing with their other albums up till 1988)
- Although it features an amazing intro, a following great harmonizer and superb closing, I find the rest of Hallowed Be Thy Name to be ultra overrated.
- On the other hand Invaders receives too much flak. Yes I know it has the single more stupid chorus in metal history. But the rest of the song is BRUTAL (oh and that bass line!)
- I never was much of a fan of Flight of Icarus. Good song, nevertheless.
- Really like Losfer Words. Also consider The Duelists, Back In The Village and Flash Of The Blade to be really good and far from being fillers.
- Alexander The Great seems a bit out of place in SIT and that undermines such a great tune. Also may come as a surprise to some but SIT is my favorite Maiden album.
- The Prophecy is one of my 7th son favorite tracks
- I really like No Prayer For The Dying as an album (though Hooks In You is garbage)
- Holy Smoke is a great rocker but has the same problem that Alexander in SIT to an even deeper degree... it sounds completely dislocated among the other songs
- Bring Your Daughter is EASILY one of my top 20 favorite Maiden songs ever done (really near #20 but top 20 nonetheless)
- Fear Of The Dark as an album is crap. Songs like From Here To Eternity, Fear Is The Key, The Apparition make my stomach turn.
- Although having quite a nice lead guitar Wasting Love is awful. That chorus and Bruce's vocal performance is dreadful to say the least.
- Kinda like Weekend Warrior. It sounds like a nice B side. Putting it a soft, relax rocker in a Maiden album makes it sound awful and out of place though.
- I barely can hear one more compass of Fear Of The Dark... good song but BY FAR the most overrated maiden song ever!
- The X Factor is my 6th favorite Maiden album (tied with Killers) ahead of popular albums like FOTD, TNOTB or their debut.
- Sign Of The Cross is one of my top 5 favorite Maiden songs.. enough said.
- Really love Fortunes Of War and still eager to listen to Bruce singing it. To be fair I would be delighted if they re-recorded the entire album with the actual line up.
- Judgement Day is amazing and should be on that disc. The unbeliever should be ditched. I like 2 AM also.
- Really like Futureal... Also like Virtual XI's cover art - yes even the kid with the VR device and the footbal match - Not one of my favorites but not as bad as people say. Find it superior to both TFF and DOD and with a better all around effect than TXF, TBOS and BNW.
- I think songs like Ghost of The Navigator, Dream Of Mirrors and most of all Brave New World to be poor compositions based in excellent rifs, ideas and performances
- Maiden commited a crime by editing the original vocal line at the chorus on The Wicker Man. It came out good also but have they kept the original chorus it would be out of this world.
- Regarding these points and a couple poor songs like The Mercenary and The Fallen Angel I find Brave New World to be quite forgettable. It's a shame because it features so many good parts... but so poorly put together.
- I think Dance Of Death is way better than its predecessor... and kinda love the cover art (just kidding! That CGI nonsense is crappy as crap can get
)
- Face In The Sand and Montsegur are by far my 2 favorite songs here and are in my top 20.
- AMOLAD is my 5th favorite Maiden album. That alone shows how much I love this record it is one of the 6 Maiden records that IMO is devoid of filler songs ... the others being their debut, Killers, Powerslave, SIT, 7th Son and...
- ... and The Final Frontier. Although I regard it as a middle of the chart among other Maiden records, TFF is pretty solid album. There's not a single track here that I consider to be a stinker or filler along with a couple of top notch songs.
- When The Wild Wind Blows is also one of my 20 favorite Maiden songs.
- The lead guitar that copies the melody of Bruce's vocal line in The Red And The Black while he's singing is simply annoying and undermines the song. Nevertheless it's such a great song I still love it regardless.
There you go... Incoming stones in 3... 2...1..
Dodge!
