Makes a change to see Satellite 15/TFF getting some love. Wouldn't be my favourite from that album, but the TFF portion in particular is a bit of harmless fun.

For me The Talisman is a strong contender (and would almost certainly win if it had a solo I liked) but TFF is the real winner of the album especially as I wasn't enthused for the longest time either whereas Talisman was an instant hit. I assume it doesn't get the love for being a simplistic rocker - which I think is a fair comment but not necessarily a criticism.

The song is also a source of perpetual bewilderment - an upbeat song about dying alone in space that in my opinion makes it work without the contrast seeming unnatural at all.
 
Talisman, as with most of the album, took a while for me. TFF has a certain god-may-care attitude. Hey, I've lived life to the full, I'm going out in style. I find parallels with Speed of Light. Not least the meeting your fate in space thing, but the 'bring it on!' attitude. I have a soft spot for the fun TFF video, too.
