Would you like to hear new recordings of old material?

After re-listening the Benjamin Breeg Single, which features BBC1 session recordings of Run To The Hills and The Trooper, i wondered what other songs would sound good now if Maiden decided to re-record them. My personal opinion would love to hear a re recorded version of Powerslave and Seventh Son album. Im not saying Iron Maiden should do it, because id much rather see them live or hear new material. But if they planned on doing it id rather they do Powerslave/Seventh Son.

Meh, those re-recordings never come out great. They always sound like desperate attempts to capture old studio magic when it simply doesn't work that way.

Only thing I would be interested in would be a collection of Paul/Blaze songs rerecorded with Bruce.

I wouldn't mind hearing Bruce doing studio versions of Paul and Blaze-era songs like 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Sign of the Cross' but we already have some awesome live versions of them. Unless Jon Schaffer joins the band then we won't hear any re-recordings.

We've got so many live versions, especially of the Paul era, that I think it's a waste of time. As for re-recording those amazing albums? Never.

I would be fine hearing a few Blaze songs redone with Bruce. Always thought he could've made "Fortunes of War" a classic by adding an octave jump.

I really do not have much interest, if it were a B side or something (not that they do those any more), I would be cool with it. But, what is done is done ... let it be.

Ya this. A Sign of The Cross re-recording with Bruce and three guitarist could turn out pretty sweet....If they did a proper job at both the recording and production as well and everything.

That 99 version of Wratchild with Bruce was also OK...

I'd pay good money for a remastered/re-recorded version of Virtual XI. I love that album enough, and to hear it without the shitty production from the original release would be amazing.

Hello, this is my first post here. I have been reading some of the threads here and it seems to be an interesting forum.

On topic: I wouldn't like it if they released a bunch of re recorded songs. That seems to be something like a gimmicky move to me... Besides I don't find anything appealing about those kind of records. It would be better if they started to release live shows from the past, like Deep Purple after they started their own label. I think most of us will agree that gigs like Sheffield 87, Wembley 90 or even Argentina 98 need an official release...

Welcome Satellite!

Once Maiden do call it quits EMI/Harris could milk the cow indefinitely by releasing live albums. I believe Maiden have every show soundboard recorded so, there would be plenty to choose from. While they're active though I really hope they'll stray from turning too retrospective...History tours aside ;)

Welcome aboard, Sattelite! If you want to introduce yourself a bit more in detail, you are welcome to do so here.

These were no re-recordings. These were live in the studio performances.

I wouldn't mind hearing some re-recordings of songs from the pre-3-amigos-era. Best thing would be what Yax says, because it would be a challenge for several members involved since they were not present on the original recordings. I'd be interested to compare.

I would like to hear a re-recording of Phantom of the Opera with Bruce. I never listen to the original recording, the version from Life After Death just blows away the original, In my opinion.

Same for me Collin. I'm not particularly keen on 'Phantom of the Opera' with Paul's vocals but I love the version from 'Live After Death'. It was incredible to see it being played twice on two occasions this summer.
