No. It's just noise because it's just noise. Excuse me but I can't stand Kerry King and late Jeff Hanneman wanking with whammy bars, Tom Araya talking his way through the lyrics, songs that sound exactly the same, the moments where you can't even tell what the hell is the band actually playing. Dave Lombardo was the only good thing about Slayer. And a couple of songs that are actually enjoyable.
OK.

Whooten, you mean galloping rhythms? I think these could have come from The Mob Rules by Sabbath.

As noted Mob Rules came out later, but not only the gallop, but some of the drums (fills?--I am not a musician) just before the 5:00 and 7:00 minute marks of Achilles, along with the fact that the song generally goes on entirely too long without a lot of changes. This seems to have influenced Maiden as fa back as Where Eagles Dare, and more prominently since 1996. Even Plant's wails are reminiscent of Remember Tomorrow and Killers. I began listening to Maiden in 1983, but didn't hear Achilles until about 1990. When I did it blew me away, because it sounded so Maiden-esque to me.
