It's an Excel file. I do it on Excel to force myself to keep it as compact as possible. It's almost always just one sentence, but I allow myself to go up to three if it's a very significant event or the day had multiple events worthy of being mentioned.

I have two separate pages on the same Excel file, one being "Remark of the Day", where I describe my general thoughts or feelings in the same compact format, and the other is "Song of the Day", which is self explanatory.
