A Matter of Life or Death, just a powerful record. It's slower than classic Maiden, but it's just so good. It's actually in my top 5 favorites of their catalog.

AMOLAD is way too monotonous in my opinion. I feel there is no dynamic range to the sound. All songs sound the same to me.And most choruses are just plain boring.Having said that I think it is better than DOD.

The songs on AMOLAD don't feel similar to me so much as cohesive. They feel like they belong together, especially given the thematic content of the lyrics. Some of the choruses are repetitive, but most of them also have cool guitar parts going on underneath which makes it not as noticeable for me at least.

I agree that the album has a lot of cool parts, riffs and solos. The songs do belong together indeed.I however can't stand go listen to it.Let the songs apart the sound is not at all pleasant to my ears.

Dance of Death is the record for me while BNW comes close as a second.

The thing about DoD is that it has some amazing solos. The epics sound very well planned out and the solos take them to a different level. The title track and Pashendale for me, are right up there with any maiden record. The rainmaker has one of the coolest intros and solos by Dave
Wildest Dreams, Age of innocence, New Frontier, Gates of Tomorrow prevent the album somewhat from reaching greatness. The rest of the songs kicks major ass though.

Well I completely agree about DOD being the best, hands down. But lately the gap between 2nd and third is widening .
While I like bnw and final frontier, they are way back of amolad, which is an incredible cohesive album. Dark and powerful and yes tons of awesome riffs. Never boring. It is a close second only to the almighty and all powerful DOD..

The songs i keep coming back to:
Rainmaker
Dance of Death
Paschendale
Journeyman
These Colors dont run
For the greater good of god
Wickerman
Blood Brothers
Ghost of the Navigator

None from tff

I get and satisfy cravings for Starblind, coming home and the alchemist every once in a while. But rarely do I spin ff in its entirety. Sat 15 is in the doghouse and I'll skip it if it comes up random. By contrast I'd say I listen to at least a song off DOD and amolad almost every day. FF has some really fine moments, but has sunk to the bottom of my maiden album list. I'd say it is only ahead of the first album. And virtual x1 right now.

My favourite is The Final Frontier because it doesn't feature any weak track in my opinion (although "The Man Who Would be King" sounds like a Blaze-era leftover) as opposed to the other post-reunion albums.
My least favourite is AMOLAD which I find too long and, I must admit, a bit boring because of all the repetitions and the pseudo-prog passages (actually: power chords soaked in synth for 2/3 minutes in a row). It doesn't mean that I don't like it though but I prefer the other post-reunion albums.
In between, there is a tie between Brave New World and Dance of Death. The 2000 release has got a strong 'A side' while the second one is lacking as many strong moments. On the other hand, DoD is more mixed in terms of quality throughout the album, in my opinion.

A quick couple of 'tops' to make you see where I stand currently:

Favourite post-reunion songs:
1. Paschendale
2. Ghost of the Navigator
3. El Dorado
4. Brave New World
5. Rainmaker
(honorable mentions: "These Colours Don't Run" but it is too long, "Mother of Mercy" minus the chorus, "Journeyman" but they should have included Adrian's live acoustic solo on the album)

The post-reunion songs I like the least:
1. Different World (the worst opener they have released, as far as I'm concerned)
2. For the Greater Good of God (seriously, why is it included on From Fear To Eternity? - just a personal thought)
3. Age of Innocence (I think the style of the chorus just doesn't fit Maiden - it could have fit Midnight Oil and it is not an insult ;) ... and the lyrics are disappointing: a very low-brow, conservative rant)
4. Gates of Tomorrow (it sounds too much like "Lord of the Flies" at the beginning and the verse parts sound uninspired in my opinion)
5. Montsegur (a bit like "Quest for Fire", it seems it has been written without taking the singer's real abilities into account - it is impossible to sing without sounding ridiculous)
(I think of "Brighter Than A Thousand Suns" as a failed attempt to write something more complicated than usual)

I hope my appreciation of AMOLAD will take up again one day, but for the moment I don't like this album that much. ;)
