It`s always a tough call for me between POM, Powerslave, SIT. Having seen Powerslave and Rime live over the last 2 years then i`m going to say Powerslave edges it.

SSOASS is the only one in my top 5. The first four are among my least favourite albums (still great, but I prefer the later material). SIT has great highs but abysmal lows (imo) and Powerslave has quite a few issues as well.

From the 80s, song-wise, nothing beats Children of the Damned for me. But as an album, Powerslave is much better than TNOTB. SSOASS is equally good, but Powerslave has my vote only because of Dave's magnificent solos on the title track.

Powerslave, Seventh Son and Somewhere in Time shift around in my ranking all the time. I currently favor Powerslave.

This has got be the strangest opinion I’ve ever come across from a fellow maiden fan.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking your opinion I’ve just never met anyone that would class the first 4 albums amongst their least favourites.

All power to you and it’s nice to see a different opinion to the masses. I think I rember you saying your favourite or at least one of your favourite albums is VXI which considering your opinion on the first 4 albums your definitely in a very lonely club when it comes to opinions on Maiden albums :D

None of the first 4 albums are in my Top 7 so it´s not really rare. :D

Yeah, I'm pretty weird as far as Maiden goes :D

Generally I prefer what Maiden did in the 90s and the reunion compared to their output in the 80s. As far as the golden era goes, I feel they generally got better with each album.

Basically: Killers < IM < TNOTB < POM < PS < SIT < SSOASS

My top 5 are:
1. VXI (yeah, mostly down to nostalgia)
2. AMOLAD
3. SSOASS
4. FOTD
5. DOD

Another reason is probably that I'm not the biggest fan of Bruce's air raid siren era in the early 80s. I much prefer how he sounded from 95 onwards.
