What do they have in the Video vault?

Yes, they have most likely a lot of full shows recorded from SBIT snd BOS tour due to the releases from that tour.

I find it weird that there is so little video footage from World Piece Tour and World slavery tour. They were both huuuge tours and still I think the only video footage I’ve seen is from Montreal and Dortmund and from Rio and Long beach arena. There must be more shows recorded than those! Pro shot or audience shots, or recorded by the crew.

From Somewhere on tour we have way more. Paris, Gothenburg, Belgrade, Sheffield (i think) and of course Philly.
It really isn't weird. People didn't own video equipment you easily could smuggle in, and professional video recordings were a costly affair. It still is today, but significantly cheaper than way back, generally.

The eastern block footage from behind the Iron Curtain and Troy 87 is on YouTube too. It's not that weird really. I wish there was more footage but like had been said it cost a lot of money back than as did camera equipment to smuggle into gigs. I do think Steve might have a bit more. Surely the whole of the Hammersmith 84 audio must be knocking about too.

What has been released from the supposedly “too dark” Hammersmith 82? Just the two or three songs from the Twelve Wasted Years VHS? They’re perfectly fine in terms of visibility, I can’t imagine that they were the only usable songs from the performance.

Look on YouTube quite a lot of the gig is on there.

9 songs from Hammersmith 82' was released on the The Early Days DVD back in 2004. I agree that they look alright but the band disagreed back in 82 - understandably they wanted a perfect product back then because they were about to break through big time.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but I've had this recommended on YouTube.

A full pro-shot from the 2012 Maiden England tour. Uploaded a week ago, with only a few hundred views.
Very cool. Ill watch it as soon i can. That show if i understand bruce rant its st denver CO. There has to be tons of shows recorded and that is dvd quality for me. And that tour wasnt recorded not even a live.cd. very cool to see it

What can we assume that the band themselves have in the vault?

The full Beast over Hammersmith of course. Guess it will never see the light of day since they only released half of it on Early days dvd.

Both full nights from NEC Arena 1988 since Maiden England is a mixture of two concerts. Guess they will never be released, however, I was surprised when the missing encores got included in the dvd release. Thumbs up Harris.

Donnington 88 was a huge concert for them and I think the video footage from The Clairvoyant video is from that show. Did they record the whole thing?

I’ve seen interviews from the band from 85 during the promoting of LAD, and there they said that they initially wanted to release the full Hammersmith gig(s) but the idea got scrapped and they chose the Long beach arena gig instead. Could it be so that the also video taped the Hammersmith gigs?

Would love to see some proper footage from World Piece tour, apart from Dortmund.

A full pro-shot (I'm assuming from the side screen feed) from the 2012 Maiden England tour. Uploaded a week ago, with only a few hundred views.
Niiiice. It's not one of my favorite tours at all, but it's good to finally hear and see some of the solos better and the better camera work. Seventh Son with a backdrop, Adrian playing WY's intro faster, Bruce with a stronger performance in 2012 (at the end of the dates) than in 2013.

I highly doubt that there is a full 80's show in the vault from a single night. Back then, they pre-determined a song or two during each night where they would change tapes in cameras. I doubt the Hammersmith footage is complete. Same with Donington 88. I'd say there is footage for most of those concerts, but there is a song or 2 missing. LAD and Maiden England were recorded over multiple nights for a reason. Brian May once explained how recordings of shows worked back then (I think he was speaking about Wembley 1986 shows). Production wanted to determine 2 songs during which they would change tapes each night. But Freddie refused to lose any songs, so that required a tight schedule and coordination to ensure that 1 or 2 cameras would change tapes during each song, but the others would be running. I highly doubt that Maiden went to that length, since it seems that they always recorded 2 nights for live releases.

Post 2008, they should have the video feed of at least 6 cameras for each show (2 in the pit, 2 at FOH, 1 at drums and 1 on the platform). Lately there is more, but I think that was basic setup for SBIT, TFF and ME. However, if they edit this footage like they did with Live Chapter, which was horrible, or the LOTB Icarus video, they should keep it in there. Most mid-sized YouTube editors would make a better job with those. Last properly recorded video was En Vivo AFAIK.

All that said, it will be interesting what they do with Paris this year. Not many indoor shows to use the footage from and Paris seems to be an one-shot recording. If they mix outdoor and indoor shows, the video will be a hot mess again.
