Vancouver '10 Games

And here a present for the Wingman. ;)

The IOC would have nothing of it, so Youtube have taken it down. Did it have anything to do with the bronze-final in speed skating for teams?

Oh, well. I'm pleased with the silver in curling. Hadn't expected our golfers to beat this Canadian team. They were rock solid (no pun intended).

Anyway, I don't care about any of the above right now. Petter Northug just won the men's most prestigeous cross-country event - the 50 km. What a response to the gibberish from Gunde Svan after the relay, and what a way to finish the games! I'm having some Scotch to celebrate. While watching the ice hockey final, of course.

Too bad it was removed. That was a clip of yesterday's langlauf final, with a Polish commentator. :)

Looking forward to the ice hockey final!

Of course. Hats off to Kowalczyk, she showed real strength to close that gap between herself and Marit Bjørgen and then beat her on the last few meters. Congratulations to her!

The hockey final hasn't really "opened up" yet, I think. The teams respect each other too much, and the match means too much to them. Hopefully Canada's goal will make things open up a bit more.

2nd period about to start now!

OK, obviously I'd like to see the USA win, but this has been a great game, and I think overtime Gold Medal games rock!

Fantastic goal. What a handling, what a speed! USA could have won this match as well, but Canada deserves it, of course.

And the best Olympic Games for Canada, ever:

14 gold!
7 silver
5 bronze

YEAH! FUCK YEAH!! OHHHYEAH!!!!  That's hockey! That's the best game ever! Gold gold gold!!!!

I was almost in tears when the US tied that up. I have to give it to Crosby he came through in the clutch even tho he was almost nonexistent for most of the tournament.

He had like 6 points, but he wasn't very present the last 3 games...till he won it all. But that's what a clutch performer does.

It takes some time. Maybe years to really follow the game. It's hard to learn body positions and such. The camera work today wasn't the best, either.

Congrats to Canada -- that was an awesome game, and while it's disappointing the U.S. lost, it's probably for the best, as I'm not sure the nation of Canada could have handled its hockey team blowing a two-goal lead in the gold medal game.  Too bad they couldn't keep playing 5-on-5.  I didn't know the overtime format until the OT period started, and the moment I learned it would be 4-on-4, my exact words were:  "Oh shit.  That ain't good."

That's exactly what I said when I heard it was 4-on-4, cfh. Honestly, it was anyone's game, and Sid came up huge.

Canada would have rioted, but a US win would have been better for the game of hockey in general. Meh! I'll take it!

WHAT AN AMAZING GAME!!!!! I'm still riding that high! Too bad you can't have two golds (I've heard it has happened, though not in hockey...) because the U.S played great the entire tournament. Hats off to Miller...
