USA Politics

Your mistake is thinking that enough people in this country actually cared about Ukraine. I can tell you there’s plenty of people who don’t give a shit and see it as a bottomless hole we’re sinking money into that could go to the American people.

I don’t see it this way, especially because if we do stop supporting Ukraine that money won’t actually go to those who need it — but practically anyone who voted for Trump wasn’t doing it because they cared about the threat Russia posed. Matter of fact, they probably believed that Putin was an overhated fella.
I don't think the American electorate cared specifically about Ukraine. I am fully aware that the only foreign policy area capable of engaging a substantial amount of American voters is Israel. (Ironically, Trump probably got a fair share of voters from these Rust Belt Muslims who thought the Biden administration was too soft on Bibi, and they are now shocked that Trump is worse ...).

My point was more that Trump has been accused of being close with Russia since before he was elected in 2016, something his fans have written off as conspiracy theories, but he is proving every day now that he is more interested in dealing with Putin than with actual allies of the US.

Europe & US are still "allies". Europe will raise their military budget to 3 ~5% and in 10 years they'll be able to take on Russia while US will be full on China. A pause to buy time, stockpile arms and win another day. And save the dollar above all.

Detail: Since a few days the long standing phrase "US does not support Taiwan independence" was removed from the US Dept of State website.
Don't panic, we'll still get to have our WWIII.

Fuck this piece of shit.

Fuck everyone that voted for him.

This is so disgraceful to our democracy. If you support this, you do not support America. You do not support the Constitution. Trumpers: I don't care what words you'll mince on here to justify this or claim it's a joke...You. Are. Fucking. Liars. Deluded, sad, pathetic fucking liars supporting treason.

Ah yes, congestion pricing. The #1 thing people complained about. Not the rising costs of daily grocery store items. Not the egg prices. Not the staggering gas prices. Not the insurmountable cost of medical operations. Not the insane cost of prescription drugs. Not the unaffordable cost of houses. Not the psychopathic cost of rent. Not that the Pentagon has failed to pass an audit SEVEN FUCKING YEARS IN A ROW.

Congestion pricing. Well that's all well and good for New York but I don't fucking live there so bye bitch

Not the staggering gas prices.

Staggering? Average gas price in EU is double, while electricity is 50 ~100% more expensive.
All that with 30 -50% lower salaries and average taxation 10 ~20% higher.

There are some social care benefits but day to day is a struggle.

Who's arse did you pull those figures out of?
There are some social care benefits
Like universal health care? Just a teeny little benefit.
but day to day is a struggle.
I'm doing just fine mate. I can buy eggs and fill up the car whenever I want.

Bloody hell. The far right convicted felon orange man baby is indeed a very dangerous unhinged deluded individual. It beggars belief that so many people voted for him.

Hopefully some of the second amendment heroes step up to the plate now
That's the one thing I'll never understand. It shouldn't come as a surprise, but I'm not a big fan of guns in the first place. I understand that it is part of the culture in the US, what with the 2nd amendment and all that, and that me growing up in central Europe colors my perception. The thing is though that things have changed a tiny little bit since the 2A was introduced. The US military is the mightiest in the world. Do these people genuinely think that they'd be able to fight back against a tyrannical government and win? No amount of assault rifles will be enough to make even the tiniest dent into a theoretical tyrannical government with the military on its side. This is one of those old ideals and adages that sounds fine on paper but makes no sense at all in practice.

And that's before we start talking about the fact that Trump is actively dismantling democracy, an unelected oligarch bought the US government and every day sees more and more unconstitutional shit being done, while the majority of 2nd amendment absolutists actively cheer this on because it's "their side" doing it, "their team" is winning.
