USA Politics

In other news, fortunately Ted Cruz will not be the next president. Unfortunately Donald Trump might be.

No, but this year has been so unpredictable that I can't be certain about it.

A week ago, I actually thought that Trump becoming president would be good for Europe, because he'd never let TTIP happen. Now that it will probably not anyway, I return to my slightly amused disinterest.

Do you think TTIP is really dead in the water? A lot of the news sources I've read that are suggesting that come across as wanting it to be the case rather than showing that the deal is on the verge of collapse. The enthusiasm (or at least lack of opposition) of our political leaders for it so far makes me think this agreement or a similar one is likely to stay on the agenda.

I watched Trump's speech. It was absolutely frightening, but it was less wild and savage than his usual speech, if barely more comprehensible.

What's TTIP?

Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

Explanation I got from Reddit a while ago:

"A contract between the USA and the EU which is currently still in the making. The critic mostly is, that this treaty allows companies to sue a country if a law denies them of making sales/money, like conservation laws that are quite big in Germany for example. Also this treaty was mostly written by representatives and lobbyists in backrooms and the normal people who quite get affected by that (it affects the sanitary sector) can't do any direct changes."

And down goes Kasich.

Trump is trying to guide his campaign towards a more moderate path from what I've seen, which is what I expected; but his true colours are still on full display with his ad-hominem based accusations. There's such a disconnect between his intentions and his character that moderates aren't going to touch that with a stick.

The way it's going, unless Hillary fucks up on a spectacular scale (which I don't put past her. See: Benghazi), then she's got this election in the bag. She's a below average candidate for the Democrats, but even that's better than the divisive and alienation that Trump is providing within his own party, let alone across the US.

The British response to recent events:

Trump came out in favour of the Brexit, which I presume is the best thing to happen to the Stay forces in weeks.

No, it just confused people more. Especially those trying to make their decision based on which politician they trust the least.

Trump was always in favour of Brexit, it's not an entirely new revelation. The Stronger In campaign sent me a cringe worthy ad-hominem email 2 weeks ago.

Here is some great news.

From: http://fusionlacedillusions.com/ind...bal-surrendered-evil-plots-exposed-prevented/
As is being reported by multiple sources, the U. S. Army has seized control of the Federal Government and President Obama has no actual authority. Furthermore, the so called ‘Cabal,’ or ‘Khazarian Mafia,’ backed by United Nations infiltrators has surrendered and their files have been seized. Multiple agents have been arrested and are being interrogated, but many more have decided to switch sides and work against the evil plots against humanity which had been planned beginning next month.

There is disturbing information contained in these files about plans that had been in place, and the treasonous government officials which had been participating in these plots. Apparently, the core of the plan had been to ‘depopulate’ the planet by any means necessary. The most disturbing aspects of these plans had been the overall theme of using various techniques to ‘trick’ people (especially religious people) into believing these are the ‘end times’ as described by various religious texts. Evidence of this can be easily seen by the futile attempts to portray President Obama as the so called ‘Anti-Christ’ and even the Islamic ‘Madhi.’

I'm not sure... but it really seems far away. Members of the European Parliament have stated they'd never vote for it this way, and it won't be done during the Obama administration.

Now, this may not matter, because CETA will pass next week, and some critics have stated that it's a backdoor TTIP. As in, all the regulations, arbitrary courts and all that jazz apply here, and would apply for any US company doing business via Canada.
