USA Politics

Interesting diagram, and probably very true.

Without pretending to know too much about US politics - I am surprised to see that two candidates are labeled as within both the Tea Party and the Establishment circles. I thought the Tea Party bunch were in favour of changing things up quite a bit (of course within the framework of Republican politics, but when I read "Establishment" I think of people who don't want to change things around much)? Or am I mistaken about what "establishment" is supposed to mean here?

I think they mean establishment (or traditional) Republicans, not establishment government.

Republicans in some states would be Democrats in others and vice versa.
This isn't as extreme as it used to be. Most of the purple people are gone. 30 years ago it was all over the map. Hell, there were still some pre-Southern Strategy Democrats hanging on in the south.

True, that and the Dems have moved more and more left while the GOP moves more and more right ... there is not as much overlap.

The Department of Justice will recommend that no federal civil rights charges be brought against former police officer Darren Wilson in last year’s killing of Missouri teen Michael Brown, a report Wednesday said.

The FBI is nearing the conclusion of an investigation begun shortly after the August shooting in Ferguson and, the New York Times reported Wednesday, has found no evidence to support civil rights charges against Wilson. The department has begun drafting a memo recommending that no action be taken, the Times said. Justice spokeswoman Dena Iverson declined to comment.

Again, unfortunately, it seems Brown did attack Wilson. At least, there's not sufficient credible evidence to suggest otherwise.

Now, there's tons of other cases where there seems to be little to no attempt by police to disarm or otherwise handle a black person before shooting them dead, including this case: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-30928110 where a black man was murdered because he exited a car with his hands held high.

Orbital Sciences Corp. has ordered production and supply of 60 Energomash RD-181 engines, used on OSC Antares carrier rocket, deploying OSC Cygnus unmanned resupply vessel to ISS under NASA contract. While Lockheed Martin and Boeing are not able to procure Energomash RD-180 for Atlas V anymore, due to sanctions (rocket is used for military/intelligence).

Seems like a big plus for private space industry. Their main competitor, the military-industrial complex, cannot integrate Russian tech any more.

I read this as well, a positive development and a good boost for the private space companies, of which there are several. Which works out nicely as my oldest kid will be graduating college in less than 2 years with an aerospace engineering degree. His job prospects look better then before

It would be interesting to see similar figures for all other states, and see which states and/or sectors are the ones responsible for the overall deficit.
