UK Politics

Starmer has announced his resignation, with nominations for a successor to be submitted in the coming weeks. 20% of labour party MPs (meaning 81 required) must nominate a new leadership candidate, if multiple candidates win enough support there will be a vote amongst labour party members.

British politics is a joke.

With the next MP, the last 6 MPs were in office from 2016 to now.
The 6 before them? From 1976 to 2016.

It's just pure chaos nowadays.

Reform have peaked. He's a more popular politician than Farage is and can help bring back the working class vote.
If this comes to pass, I will be happy. If he actually passes laws that make things better for the working class, I will be happy. I am just burnt out it’s politics. It just feels that no policy in the last 10 years have benefited me (other than increased paid childcare hours)

It’s been interesting over the past decade to see the drawbacks of having the chief executive position be arguably too weak (U.K.), or arguably too strong (U.S.). Both can lead to chaos.

The local news program just had a look back at 10 years since Brexit. They interviewed people then and now and asked what they thought of it. A remain voter when asked today what negative changes she`s seen said `well now you have to queue at airports more don`t you and that` Insightful stuff as ever from the 48% :)

You forgot to mention the positive changes local people have seen... ;)

Good to see the IOPC are investigating the officers involved in the Henry Nowak incident are including potential racial influence in the investigation.

Interesting to note that after the disgraceful situation with Henry dying on the floor in cuffs the Police finally arrested Digwa and he wasn`t hand cuffed and was addressed as mate.

Any sensible government would also remove the religious exemption that allows Sikhs to carry dangerous bladed weapons around when nobody else is allowed to without a very good reason.

That's not to say there is some epidemic of Sikhs attacking people with these weapons, there isn't and the vast majority of Sikhs are non-violent and law-abiding, but there is no justification for this special privilege. As I understand it a small, blunt and functionally useless symbolic dagger can be carried instead if they feel they need to fulfill their religious duties.
