This one didn't want to be part of it:

I was watching Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas on ITV2. I changed to the BBC and realised the nightmare was real. :(

Really ashamed to call this country home today.

I canvased for Labour this election, and the message just did not get through. People didn't like Corbyn, and his Brexit message. It was clear from people on the ground that it was going to be a very bad night for Labour. It was hard to carry on campaigning to be quite honest.

At least I'm seeing Devin Townsend tomorrow night, something to pick my spirits up...

A bit of an anti-semite purge would not hurt either
I wholeheartedly agree. One can oppose the policies of the incumbent government of Israel without being an anti-Semite. Similarly, one can support the government of Israel and blather on about anti-Semitic stereotypes.

I'll save this conversation in more depth for another day, but this is something that has become media/social media 'fact' without much scrutiny. There are some good articles out there including one by the BBC, plus a letter to the British press by Noam Chomsky and a whole host of other people, which is critical of how these accusations have been covered.

The simple fact is that an opposition party would need to campaign in single-issue politics and be headed by a larger than life media personality at the moment.

What is also worth watching is what is going to happen in Scotland, which could well be a Conservative, Lib Dem and Labour free zone.

It is politics...if you get tagged with a perception .. true, false, or overblown...it has to be addressed.

I think Corbyn lost as soon as he refused to apologise for the Anti- Semitism problem whilst being interviewed by Andrew Neil.

That was the death knell for Labour in my eyes.

That's what happened in our election. The Conservative leader was tagged as anti-abortion and anti-gay (helped by how he refused to comment on either, and refused to march in pride parades). Outside of 2-3 provinces, that tag is complete and total electoral death in Canada. He was given multiple chances to elaborate or explain or state, and always evaded and dodged.

He quit as leader of the Conservatives today.

LOL. So many sad socialists and commies.....Good for the UK. They finally can reclaim their country from the unelected leftist mob and those among their government who refuse to listen to the people they supposedly work for. Sad for the media too and all their lies. Lots of people don't listen to them anymore because the lying is so bad and so one sided. Keep calling anyone who opposes far leftist group-think as xenophobic racists, and keep losing elections.

Trump on track for another 4 in the US as well, as the same delusional morons masquerading as 'Democrats' and their media are taking a beating, while our economy soars!

Do you even know how the political system works in the UK? Leftist mob? We've had a right wing party in government for the past decade. What you chatting.

I guess my post wasn't clear. Reclaim their country from Brussels. But if we're nitpicking, even though the right wing has had a slim majority, it wasn't enough to overcome the far left to proceed as the voters asked 3 years ago -with Brexit. Now if this expected results holds, they can trounce them and move on with the business of the adults. Brexit is coming, and UK will be far better for it.

Brexit didn't mean anything. It took 3 years to decide what it would mean - fair enough - because Cameron didn't have a plan for losing the referendum, so every Tom Dick and Harry could decide what Brexit meant to them. Now, we know what it means - Boris's Brexit plan, which is...adequate for the situation, but probably will have economic damage that continues the UK's descent onto the ash heap of history.

A hundred years ago, the UK was the most powerful country in the world, an empire of resources and wealth. Aye, most of it earned exploiting others, but still, that is the truth as it stands.

Today, it is an afterthought. Ignored by the USA, now to be ignored by Europe, a sad nation that is full of people who pine for a past that never existed. The UK's factories are shuttered and dead. Britain's resources are centuries gone. The banks are fleeing to Brussels and Paris and the Hague. What then is left for Britain? Nothing. And less than nothing when Scotland leaves as soon as they can, because that will happen now.

And 100 years ago ago the UK ruled itself. Then WWII happened and in the ashes of that conflict we had the European Union expiriment which Britain has been (and for now continues to be) a part of for the last ~45 years and led precisely to where you describe them today. So tell me again why they should remain?
