The Wind In The Willows
(Harris) • 12:29
The wind in the willows sang softly to me
Follow your heart wherever it leads
I looked for the silence, the silence I freed
And found only the voice of the river
The wind in the willows sang softly to me
Come to my side, and I’ll set you free
I wandered through forests, and sailed through seas
But the wind was still one step ahead of me
Sailing down the river
Sailing down the river
I walked along the shoreside and saw what there was
A message in the water I saw
The ripples, the tide line, blown by the wind
And the willows rustled within
And I turned from the river, walked through the woods
The darkness was coming down fast
My thoughts were frightened, my fears had grown
But the wind kept me on the straight path
And as I looked all around at the world of my own
And all the people who walked just like me
It made me saddened to think of the gloom
The suffering all around that I see
So I sailed down the river
Sailing down the river
Sailing down the river
And the wind in the willows sang unto me
Calling me close to its side
So I followed the wind ‘til the river met the sea
And freely I ran to its side
And the sea blew me off course, somewhere I’d never seen
And we left the willows far behind
But the wind guided me, brought me to sights
I never before could find
And the wind in the willows called me back home
And I came in out from the sea
Lonely wayfarer searching for the shore
And the willows were beckoning me
The wind in the willows called unto me
And I heard them speak my name
And I followed the wind ‘til the willows greeted me
And I saw the river once more
So I lit the lights once more and the wanderlust subdued
And the winter set down on us all
And the death brought new life, new life unto me
And springtime was about to fall
So I sat by the fire and warmed my toes
And drank in the spirits of the hour
And the memories that filled me, days with old friends
I relived them all once more
And I sat there in peace, all the evils did cease
And quietly I fell fast asleep
And dreamed of the river, the shore and the sea
And the wind in the willows and me
Sailing down the river
Sailing down the river
Sailing down the river
Sailing down the river
