Sorry, Hunny, didn't see you there (although I looked out for you - I guess you were near the front). I won't do a review of the gig yet, as I couldn't be assed doing spoiler tags and thinking about what to write, so I'll do it after Earls Court...or tomorrow, when I'm not as tired.
Suffice to say, the gig was immense. I was in the pit, and the whole crowd was well up for it (thankfully, as someone beside me pointed out, all the Trivium fans had pissed off after they left). There was one guy beside me and my friend who must have known just as many of the words to the new albums as I did...we started a good few clap-alongs during

Ok, im going to make an objective observation on the gig. Whilst very good, it was almost ruined by moronic kids moshing in the centre of the floor area. Security poorly struggled to maintain some sort of order, & most the audience (especially the over 17's!) suffered as a result.
This was the most rowdy crowd i have seen since about the mid 90's...it was also marred by people who kept walking in & out of the floor area during songs, i presume either to get another drink, have a piss or just plainly take the piss.

I arrived too late to get access to the pit unfortunately as my bus stopped for a few too many piss stops down the road 
It was a great night from the main floor area anyway, right up against the railings just right of centre.
The Lauren Harris band were much better than I was expecting. Just plain old cheesy rock that was easy to get into as Hunny has said. The guitarist wqas quite good but it was funny that as the spotlight went on him for the solos, most people were still looking at Lauren
It was also hilarious looking at the bassist headbanging with his straightened hair.
I went to the concert with an open mind about Trivium but they really disappointed me. They bored the shite out of me and their "fans" did nothing but push around and look for trouble. As Silky said, it was a good thiong that a few of them moved back before Maiden. Even the "boat rudder" song that I knew before hand sounded terrible live and the use of the F-word by Matt Hetfield was over the top to say the least.
If anybody has a link to an mp3 format bootleg, it would be very much appreciated.

The suspense was like nothing normal before Maiden came out. Songs played throught he PA were starting ot get the crowd going and then "Doctor, Doctor" sent the place crazy. The concert kicked off with a rather inaudible "Ayeeeee!" and we were off into a "Different World". The sound was great except from the over-loudness of the bass drum and guitar. Bruce was on top form for most of the night and the solos were spot on. We moved into "These Colours Don't Run" which was recieved well, with the chorus getting a decent sing-along although the impression was left that not everybody in the audience was into it.
"Brighter Than A Thousand Suns" was the song of the night for me. It was given a new birth live IMO and it just had to be heard to be believed. In "The Pilgrim", Bruce made a mistake with the lyrics sayiing "Pagan sunrise, Pagan sunset" for the last chorus but it was still a great song none-the-less. "The Longest Day" was also fantastic live and the back drop of the newspaper cutting worked well.
"Out of the Sadows" is definitely better live than it is in the studio, especially with the cheesy ending "A man who cats no shadow..."

I think it would have been better if the band played "classics" in between the new material to break it up a bit as it got a bit tedious IMO. The fact that I was pushed back a couple of places didn't help either.
None-the-less, the Legacy was fantastic and although I didn't know a lot of the words myself, a friend of mine told me that Bruce changed a lyric in one of the lines.

If I thought that the new material was well recieved, it was nothing compared to the classics. Fear of the Dark was just immense. I would have a video of the intro to that had I not hit "back" instead of "save". "Iron Maiden" was also good for the tank Eddie that appeared to survey the surroundings. The encore was probably the highlight of the night. Bruce sinking the Guinness was great and his story about the porn star was priceless. "You dirty bastard"
The three fantastic songs, the same as they have played on every other leg of the tour, were also greeted well by the crowd. "Hallowed..." was quite a good closer too.
Overall, it was a great night although the pushing was a bit much at times and the bass mix was poor. The choice of songs worked well but I think they should have split up the new material. Fair play to the lads for doing something few other "old" bands seem to do... promote new material instead of only focusing on the classics.

Hmm...I might have seen you during Trivium if I looked hard enough. If you saw two guys about 5'10 sitting down at the back of the crowd during the latter part of Trivium's set, that was me and my friend getting incredibly bored...

That concert was undoubtedly the worst concert i've ever seen! Iron Maiden suck! How dare they play their new (rubbish) album in full! (Can you imagine if Elvis came back from the dead and pretty much just played some of the new material he wrote while he was away?)
3/4 old songs?!? WTF! They didn't even play them right - did you hear Hallowed..? Nicko has turned into such a bad drummer. I can't even bare to listen to the new album, let alone witness the sellout action. All the songs have the same predictable, but not in a good way, structure, and they'll all played at a pace which is uncomfortable, to say the least. What's the point in having 3 guitarists if you rarely take advantage of it. They think that just cause they're Iron Maiden they can write an album without doing much work. I like Dance of Death, it had some good songs, but this, this isn't Iron Maiden.
When I go to an Iron Maiden concert i want to hear some Iron Maiden songs! I suppose they can afford to dishonour their fans cos they have so many, well not as much now!
I will be selling all my Iron Maiden albums, preaching their disloyalty to their fans, and never listening to them again. You can be sure that i will never go to another of their concerts!

And I think 8,499 Irish Maiden fans clapping and singing along to The Legacy, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns and For the Greater Good of God drives that point home. If you don't like what they do, you don't have to go to the show. Give your ticket to someone who really does want to be there, and appreciates their new material for what it is.

Alot of people who bought tickets would not have done so if they had announced what the intention was prior to the tickets going on sale. I do disagree with m.m. about DOD, i did not like the album & i thought it was weak in comparison to BNW. I do however, really like AMOLAD, but the set needed more songs from their classic repertoire. It's disrespectful in many people eyes for the reasons i have stated.
There are a lot of fans out there who don't want to hear anything past Seventh Son played. And while I can understand that attitude, I don't subscribe to it. And the band has stated, over and over, that neither do they. They play their songs for the fans of today's albums. That's why I think playing the whole album was a brilliant, brilliant scheme. I love AMOLAD, I loved DOD, and I loved BNW. All the new, "Reunion", work has been over the top phenominal, better than their "Golden Years" stuff in many cases.
