The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

Sales numbers from the first 3 U.S. gigs: http://www.theprp.com/2016/03/09/ne...ay-drive-between-the-buried-and-me-etc-shows/

Interesting facts:
- all 3 shows were completely sold out
- the band made just over $2.5 million in ticket sales from 3 shows
- 32,899 total people saw Iron Maiden in the U.S. so far

Now, let's say that half of that $2.5 million went to pay for the entire touring crew, arena rental, staff, flight, jet fuel, meals, etc. etc., that leaves the band with 1.25 million in profits. Let's also say that 75% of people who went to a gig bought one t-shirt (not even factoring in hoodies or other merch or people who bought many, many t-shirts):

24, 674 people buy a $40 shirt = $986,960 minus t-shirt production costs (probably no more than $4-5 a shirt at the most) = $863, 590

$863, 590 + $1,250,000 = $2,113,590 in profits for only three shows

Hell, let's say that production costs were even higher and round it down to a nice, even $2 million.

$2 million/3 shows = $666,666.66 per show :devil2:

$666,666.66 minus Rod's 10% ($66,666)/6 band members = $100,000 per member, per gig. And that ain't bad!

DISCLAIMER: All of these estimates are completely made up using a very broad, non-scientific theory of Maiden's money management and nothing here should be taken seriously.
I don't care if those numbers are totally wrong. You're a god damn genius.

Looks like both port side engines were hit:

According to what I'm seeing on Facebook, people say it was struck by a airport service vehicle.
Oops! The reactor alone must be worth the national gross product of Chile.;) Hopefully, Cardiff Aviation is also a "repair" company. The important thing is that there has not been any victim apparently.

What I've read on one Facebook group, a Chilean airline has offered the use of a replacement plane. The operators of the airport vehicle which was moving the plane were injured.

Full details:

"ED FORCE ONE BADLY DAMAGED ON THE GROUND IN COMODORO ARTURO MERINO BENITEZ (SANTIAGO, CHILE) AIRPORT
CONCERTS IN ARGENTINA TOMORROW AND TUESDAY EXPECTED TO GO AHEAD AS PLANNED
Ed Force One was this morning tethered to a tow truck to be taken for refuelling prior to flying over the Andes to Cordoba for the next show. On moving the steering pin that is part of the mechanism that connects the ground tug to the aircraft seemingly fell out. On making a turn the aircraft had no steering and collided with the ground tug badly damaging the undercarriage, two of the aircrafts engines and injuring two ground tug operators, both of whom have been taken to hospital. We hope of course that they make a full and speedy recovery and we will be closely monitoring their progress. The flight engineers are on site and evaluating the damage, but their initial report is that the engines have suffered large damage and will require an extended period of maintenance and possibly two new engines.
We are currently making contingency arrangements to get to the show in Cordoba tomorrow with band, crew and equipment intact. Fortunately the 20 tons of equipment had not been loaded onto EF1 at the time of the accident. Although this is tragic for our beautiful plane we do not expect this to affect our concert schedule including the next 2 shows in Cordoba and Buenos Aires. And we hope to find a new Ed Force One to continue this adventure with us in the near future. We will keep everyone updated when we know more, so keep checking only on this site for official news.
To finish on a high note however, our visit to Chile was a huge success with 58,000 fans coming to the show as totally brilliant as ever in the Stadium Nacional last night. We love you guys!"

And their concert here would be...next Saturday! How lucky can I be?

I'm hoping that they'll just find a smaller plane to do the Argentina/Brazil leg. I'm 150% OK if they play without the giant Eddie here. But I'm really worried of postponing the gigs. It would probably be remarked for late August, after the European leg, with Bruce's voice worn out. Or worse, just a cancelation of the Brazilian leg.

Bite me, damn it

Their official statement says no gigs will be affected! And i'm sure they'll bring the big Eddie- he's inflatable, probably not that large when stowed for transport.

I would assume they can finish up the South/North America part of this tour with other methods of transport... there are no back to back shows at all. They probably have until they leave the Americas to get the plane fixed or get a new plane before it becomes a massive problem where shows might get cancelled
