Now Adam McKay is the frontrunner. From the movies he directed: haven't seen Anchorman movies (planning to), Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and The Other Guys were all really funny. Wonder if Will Ferrell gets cast as the villain
Adam McKay's out, in case you haven't heard. No one's chosen yet.
However, Doctor Strange has its director! It's Scott Derrickson, who directed The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Sinister and Deliver Us from Evil. 3 of the 4 movies he directed are horror movies, so an interesting choice.
I'm not so sad about Edgar Wright being dropped. While I loved the 3 Cornetto movies, Scott Pilgrim was a complete crapfest, and it was based on a comic book. Maybe his idea for Ant-Man was too silly for MCU. Who knows. So far I have no reasons not to trust Marvel. Even the worst MCU movie (Iron Man 2) is still pretty awesome and better than most non-MCU superhero movies.
Likewise, enjoyed Cornetto trilogy but wasn't a super fan of Scott Pilgrim, only watched it at all because the gf liked it and wanted to show me it. I don't know what it was about it that made me dislike it, perhaps just felt a bit overly silly, it sort of stayed normal most the time which made the random game hp bars and flight etc feel somewhat bizarre, had it been more consistently present from the beginning I'd have done better with it. That, and for whatever reason Michael Cera just bugs me
I also agree that so far we have nothing to make us not-trust Marvel.

Casting call for extras to be "Avengers Recruits" and some set pics of a group of people running along infront of a green screen for a training sequence.
No pictures to confirm the first two though sadly.
