THE IRON MAIDEN COVERENDUM: Angel Stage (FINAL!)

Powerwolf’s cover is rad. Love the energy. Wolf have a terrible singer and I don’t like the change they make to the main guitar melody.

Elvenking is fine musically and the vocals are not my favourite, but Rhapsody definitely take this. Love the keyboard.

Welcome to the Gangland Stage of the Coverendum! Here the winners of the previous match-ups go head-to-head in our ongoing quest to crown the victor of the title - greatest Iron Maiden cover song. Let's rock and roll!

Fuck glass gargling. Winner: Radio Topok

Better song, mostly better performance. Winner: Machine Head

As cool as Burden Of Grief's "Aces High" is, I gotta go for my own submission. And Machine Head far outclass the weak sauce of The Quill.

FYI: No closing date for this poll. With the holidays coming up I'm not sure when I will be able to update again, so it'll be open until I can. Maybe that'll be in a few days, maybe in a few weeks. Sorry for any disturbances this may cause.

C'mon, Christmas is in 11 days, surely you can update at least once before that :P

Also, MaidenFans band FTW.

Psycrence for an updated, more modern take on CSIT. I'm usually fond of Apocalyptica stuff, but there's only so much cello wizardry you can listen to. It far too obvious for them to cover Maiden, and I don't think this is a great one to cover without it sounding tame and watered down.

Going for The Wrathchildren's (that was the name, wasn't it?) Alexander again. I like what a non professional band with diverse influences and styles, oceans apart, have brought to this. By comparison, Primal Fear's cover isn't terribly different to the original, and just sounds like yet another metal band playing at being Maiden for the day.

The Psycrence cover rocks harder than the original, has a sweet acoustic intro and outro, and only shows a little weakness in the pre-chorus and the chorus. The Apocalyptica cover is a fun curiosity, but is ultimately a little flat and lifeless. Sorry, @Lamia020281, but @MindRuler ’s nominee takes this one easily. Winner: Psycrence

Primal Fear’s cover is lazy with some incorrect guitar work and a botched interlude. Sorry @Kalata, but it’s an easy win for MaidenFans bias here. Winner: The MaidenFans Band
