The forum should have a 5 post limit before being allowed to make threads.

I went looking for some solution on the XenForo forum and there are some useful tips in these threads that might help.

At least blocking users from posting URLs in thread titles would cut down on a lot of spam. Manual approval of accounts would cut it down completely. Both are possible, I checked the Admin Demo of XenForo. You can also set it so that moderators can approve accounts manually so you don't have to do it :) You can also set that every user's first 5 (or more) posts are checked for certain phrases, and if those phrases appear, user is automatically banned and posts are deleted. Just put "http" or "www" or "penis enlargement" or "male enhancement" or other common spam phrases :D

I know Jon's a busy guy, but it's been almost 2 years since this thread was started. I'm surprised he didn't change the setting when he was on recently. Unless the option isn't available.

You probably have enough posts now and aren't a brand new member. Are you still getting the 'insufficient privileges' message?

Hi Brigantium,

I am a brand new member, and was wondering how I can get sufficient privileges to make a post. Am I not understanding something? I ' m pretty new to forums in general.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

If you're a new member you won't be able to start a new thread until you've posted in existing threads and participated in the forum for a while. Are you getting the 'insufficient privileges' message when you try to post in an existing thread?

I've just checked the last update and you should be able to start a thread with that many posts. If you've only just joined and made all the posts today, though, the anti-spam settings might be preventing it. If you visit again tomorrow it might work. Please make sure that there isn't already a thread open somewhere covering whatever it is you want to start a new thread about.
