90% of those band names sound very unfamiliar to me. Sure, you can call me a boomer or an old fart...

To be fair, there's a fair few on the bill that are considerable up and comers on the British metal scene. Like Loathe, Lotus Eater, While She Sleeps, Holding Absence, Sleep Token, Conjurer. Personally for me, it's a great line up for a festival that is restricted to British only bands at the moment.

Probably going to a festival next month. Two shows in two days, smaller city/festival, two Serbian bands that I wanna see and might also stay for Yngwie Malmsteen if my friends pressure me enough. Also, I am vaccinated but will wear a mask there anyway.
And now those two Serbian bands announced solo gigs in Belgrade for June and July respectively... but I commited to going to that festival already... so it seems like I'll have to go to all of these gigs :devil2:

I was at a live gig. An illegal affair. Irritating jazz trio to start, fabulous virtuoso acoustic guitar to follow, horny funk to follow, psy trance to finish. Certainly a mixed bag but absolutely fabulous to be entertained, live, in the flesh, despite the jazz and psy trance. I didnt realise how much I missed it until it was up in my grill. Take it where ye find it, people.

I have a couple of things planned too.

July 30: Sonata Arctica, Turmion Kätilöt, Mokoma + more
July 31: Uriah Heep, Amorphis + more
August 15: Nightwish

It seems like this summer won't be wasted after all.

Four weekends in a row of shows begin this weekend, been way too long:

Nikola Vranjković - June 19
Nikola Vranjković / Pero Defformero / Yngwie Malmsteen - June 25/26
Pero Defformero - July 2
Sabaton / Laibach - July 9

Two bands I'm seeing twice are playing festival + solo gigs, so I can get drunk during the festival gigs lol

June of 2022 is going to be an awesome experience for Metalheads in France.

HellFest Festival bill is awesome and the last day you can choose to see Metallica there or travel to Paris to see Maiden.
Megadeth and Airborne will make 2 shows in that Festival (Different days)

metallica and mercyful fate in the same place on the same day, if King doesn't get up with them for Mercyful Fate Medley then it's a disgrace

Just got home from a weekend at the Download Pilot, and what an absolutely incredible experience. To be surrounded by people again, experiencing live music for the first time since March 2020 was just euphoric. The festival itself was cut down to 10,000 people and the site by half, which made it a lot more enjoyable than a normal Download. Everyone was just in just in a cracking mood throughout, the crowd and the bands alike, you could really feel the passion people had for live events. Biggest highlights for me were, Creeper, Sleep Token, Holding Absence, Frank Turner and Loathe. The biggest take away I had from it is, in my opinion, the British rock and metal scene is in safe hands.

So on Saturday I'm going to see Scott Stapp for some reason. Filter as well. One thing's for sure: I'm definitely not going to be sober for this one.

Glad you enjoyed it! I heard it was well organised, (which has to be an improvement on non-pandemic times :D )

Nikola Vranjković - June 19
Played for 2h 20min but it still felt short. He just has too many awesome songs. This time he avoided all the fast songs. Probably because at his last show at the same venue, he only played the faster stuff, which sucked for me, because I didn't listen to him back then. And also because audience would've trashed the venue as it's not made for moshpits. Either way, great show.

Nikola Vranjković / Pero Defformero / Yngwie Malmsteen - June 25/26
Vranjković killed it here. Played some slower stuff then ended the show with 6 faster songs in a row and all hell broke loose. Monstrous performance that wiped the floor with everything else I've seen on the festival and he only played for 2h 20 min. Pero Defformero was cool but their second show that I've seen (first solo show) will probably remain my favorite, considering they only have 2 albums and play the same songs all the time. As for Yngwie... I'm not sure there's a word in any language to describe the wankfest that his show was. I'm pretty sure there were like 3 or 4 songs with vocals and he cut them all in half to make way for his solos. Dude is out of his mind. But I gotta respect the fact that he enjoys doing this and doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

Pero Defformero - July 2
Again, cool, but same songs all over again. But considering the price and the venue, I can't really complain. But they were late, which I hated, and I missed the last bus and had to take CarGo home.

Hehe, of course those groups sound unfamiliar! The life cycles of some groups is around 3-4 years, and this thread is from 2014! Oh guys, I am so jealous on you! I though the thread is old, but then I've seen that your posts are recent, which means that you have concerts! I wish we'd also be so free. Before the pandemic I had a small company providing technical event services in london. Of course we went bankrupt and I returned to my home country. Well...even with the vaccination, things are getting worse. I don't think we will be able to attend some events in the next months (don't want to say year).

I'm going to this festival in Virginia in September. I'm not super in love with any of the main headliners, but each day has several bands that will be cool to see.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to stay for the Sunday shows, but I'll be at Thurs - Sat for sure.
