Just got an email from the promoter that they sent out the Battle Beast slot on the wrong day. They offered a refund but fuckit, I'm still going.
 
Alexisonfire just announced a concert in London at the start of June. I listened to them a lot for a couple of years when I was a teenager then lost track of them until they broke up for a few years. I managed to see them four years ago at Reading Festival when Metallica headlined which was cool, but missed their London show last summer. Tickets are pretty pricey (I've spent a lot of money recently!) but this show is a Saturday and I reckon if I can see them at their own show just once then I won't need to go again. Decisions, decisions...

I did get an Alexisonfire ticket in the end - as soon as the presale started this morning. Teenage Black Wizard would be very happy about this.

I need to decide if I want to go to this. I'll be seeing Slayer once this year, but Slash was not coming anywhere close otherwise (though I correctly suspected he would be at Heavy Montreal given the placement of the tour dates). Anthrax would be great, I wouldn't mind seeing Clutch, Gamma Ray, Beartooth, or Metal Church. My buddy's huge into Beast in Black. So we'll see.
 
Saw Night Ranger last night and what a rock performance! Songs from 1st 3 cds & last 2 (& yes the new material is good). Sounded like they hadn't aged a day! Because of past band affiliations, they played some very well received covers: Keri was in Alice Cooper for 9 years (School's Out), Jack was in Damn Yankees (several), & Brad was Ozzy's 1st guitarist after Randy died (Crazy Train). Speaking of Brad, all his solos last night (including Crazy Train) were note for note perfect.

Because the drummer Kelly sings lead on a few songs, it was cool the way his drums are sideways and up front on the right. Amazing crowd response & participation. Definitely recommend catching a show from these guys.

Update: Cannot go to Mastodon, I’ve cleared out my vacation time at work with my Maiden shows and my cruise I’m going on.
 
11 shows (maybe more, honestly, I think I lost some concert tickets from when I was like 16 years old) = Megadeth
9 shows = Clutch & Iced Earth
8 shows = Symphony X & Dream Theater (they will move up to 9 in two weeks)
6 shows = Armored Saint, Sabaton & William Elliott Whitmore
5 shows = Jimmy Eat World, Joe Satriani, Iron Maiden (they will move up to 6 at the end of this summer)

My list of bands most seen is:

18 Iron Maiden

8 Gojira (soon to be 9)
7 Dream Theater (hopefully soon to be 8)
6 Sabaton (soon to be 7), As I Lay Dying (doubt I'll see again)
5 Anthrax, Skarlett Riot (both soon to be 6)

Some of these are just because they play every festival ever and support other bands. The Raven Age will soon be up at 5 too. :(
