1. El Dorado - one of 2 songs that doesn't have a boring part, sounds like classic Maiden without being derivative
2. Satellite 15... Final Frontier - the 1st part is the most original thing Maiden have done in at least 20 years , the title track has the most energy on the whole album
3. Mother of Mercy - this is the one i find myself singing along to most
4. The Talisman - the second half of this song is pretty great, but the overlong intro with Bruce singing the same melody as the music is getting tired
5. Coming Home - Revelations this is NOT
6. Starblind - pretty average, the lyrics remind me of Rush, specifically Freewill
7. When the Wild Wind Blows - this song has 2 major problems, 1) the tone of the music does not match the heavy subject matter; 2) for a song that's 11 mins it's not that complex
8. The Man Who Would Be King - yet another slowly building song that goes on forever
9. Isle of Avalon - possibly the worst Maiden lyrics ever
10. The Alchemist - really? this song is less than half-assed. quarter-assed. More fodder for the anti-Janick crowd
For all of you who's blood is boiling now, please relax, these are but one man's opinions. I do like the top 5 a lot, and this may be Adrian's finest album since SIT, but after a promising beginning, the second half of this album could have benefited from some substantial editing, and perhaps a bit more time to coalesce. I think this is my least favorite of the 4 post-reunion albums.
