Subjects Bruce was wrong about or took his mouth too full

I don’t care about Bruce’s opinions on social and political issues. Some I agree with; some I don’t. Everyone’s entitled to their opinions.

What does bother me is his swearing on stage. Why does a man in his 60s have to drop so many F-bombs? Mock me if you want for that opinion. I don’t like unnecessary profanity.

Yeah, I also think it was a managment mistake.

But it needs to be said that Maiden were saving Ozzfest's arses too. The unreliability of Sabbath resulted in Maiden playing numerous full shows, playing basically the whole European set minust Driter, Remember Tomorrow and Where Eagles Dare.

And also why Sharon hadn't got the bottle to egg them after the first time Bruce mouthed off, her whole tour would have went tits up without Maiden doing the heavy lifting.

I have my opinions on Bruces flaws as a person and at times he annoys the hell out of me. But at the end of the day i know of them cos i follow Iron Maiden and hes a damn brilliant musician in my fav band. The other stuff i can live with and im not gonna start a post purely made to slag him off (although i may comment on a few here and there)

Same here. Love Bruce, but I also know when to just roll my eyes and move on from some of the gibberish he says.

DoD, if I recall, was a shorter tour because of Steve's spinal compression issues he was having leading up to the tour, hence why he said they'd start doing live albums on every major tour, because "every show from that point on was precious," or some statement like that. The reason they really only hit a few major markets in the US is likely because of what you mentioned, that the States weren't quite as receptive sales-wise to the reunion as the rest of the world was, so why waste those precious shows there. I imagine Steve had surgery after the DoD tour, which obviously turned out to be successful, since we never really heard about those spinal problems again.

Booking Ozzfest got them in front of mainstream American audiences, and I'd agree it was the right thing to do, despite how it all ended.
I remember the said that dod tour was the Last arena tour.

To be honest, if people have a huge problem with what Bruce says live, I'd hate to see what you'ld think of 99% of the other frontmen in metal, who are basically morons.
It kinda depends on the sub-genre. In power metal it's often rather wholesome or at worst cringy "brothers and sisters of metal" stuff. Prog can be pretentious.

But your overall point stands. There are plenty of loud morons on microphones around lol

I didn't know that about the timing of the surgery (or I had forgotten).

Definitely, Maiden picked up popularity in the USA veeery slowly compared to everywhere else after 1999.

Ozzfest 2005 was a turning point. Andy Taylor also once mentioned 2006 as a turning point in the band's income and finances picking up.

By 2008 they had built up their US following again which did really well in terms of the nostalgia theme (I attended 3 or 4 US shows because I lived in Washington DC that summer for work. I saw the packed 'sheds' and Madison Square Garden give them great reactions).
