Studio Album #16 - Rumours and Speculation (New Info 27.02.15)

Yeah, I fully believe the band is done recording. It's really nice to have a band announce a new album after it's finished, instead of the standard operating procedure nowadays...bassist tweets something cryptic, press release about a new album, two months later an announcement on the band's website like, "Just started drum tracking!", and an album seven-eight months later.

Maiden's just gonna be like, "We have a new album. It's done. It's coming out in March. Boom."
Agreed.
"Just started rehearsing for writing some new songs for pre-pre-pre-production rough takes of our new album!" is not very exciting. Then again, I do miss having Kevin's studio diaries dropping hints about the sound of the new record!

At the same time, it would really suck if the christmas card was just a way to tell fans that will START recording it next year. Anti-climatic.

Still, i believe it is recorded. The band would not risk to mislead fans, considering the last album was in 2010...

Nah, we have enough info at this point to know that's not the case.

What if the band were in the studio in Paris for songwriting only?

That could be possible. Maybe writing and rehearsing so they can hit the studio in January to record? Either way, they record faster than most bands due to their love of playing live, so I'm confident we'll get a new record before summer.

Normally...They would be at their "secret hideout" in Paris to compose and arrange songs and then take those songs to a studio elsewhere to do the actual recording...Last couple of albums they have rehearsed/composed in Paris but recorded at the Bahamas or a studio in London...Except for Brave New World that was also recorded at a studio in Paris..

Like I said in an earlier post on here, so far the whole process seems to me to follow the album process of TFF..with the band on a Christmas holiday now and then do the actual recording start new year...

Well, do we know when they entered the Paris studio?

Yeah, I think they're definitely either at the beginning of the actual recording or at least finished making the songs. That could leave January/February for Shirley to do the mixing, have Bruce do his vocal parts and then of course we know that Steve Harris will sit down with Shirley to overview the end result and tweak things here and there until he is satisfied :p

Hmmm... so the timescale is indeed similar. I was kinda hoping it would be earlier in the year, but I suppose a summer 2015 release is pretty probable then.

The last pre-May release of a Maiden studio album:

Virtual XI
(23 March 1998)

The only other occasions: Iron Maiden (April), Killers (February), The Number of the Beast (March) & Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (April)

The "only" other occasions? You've just named five albums that were released before May! :p

Either way, we're a couple of months ahead of TFF schedule, so it is possible we won't have to wait until April for news that Shirley has finished mixing, for a "late summer" release. Maybe a slightly earlier release, with a US leg in the spring/summer & back to Europe (& the UK) for autumn/winter?

Well, indeed, none recently. I just meant, it hasn't just been one or two.

I think Perun is correct in respect to a release date; I just hope we have news of the release date before then though.
