What would you rate the song without Adrians solo?
Both SIASL and Powerslave have much in common. They are some of my favorite Maiden songs, but its only cause of the incredible melodic solo sections in the middle. The remaining of the songs are kinda just filler to me

After one of the very best Maiden songs we arrive at SIASL. I'll make it quick and painless: I never liked the song and it still hasn't clicked with me, even after hearing it live. Not a fan of the main riff and chorus, the verses are okay if nothing interesting. The pre-chorus with the off-beat open hi-hats is kinda neat.

The only saving grace is Adrian's lovely solo. So much so, that it lifts the songs up to a 4.

I still think it is one of their best songs. It is one of the few songs I can think where the band get into a solid ‘groove’. It’s the only song that I have danced to at a Maiden gig!

For me, it is the single that all others are measured against.

My least fave song of that album. I usually skip it, when I listen to SIT. It is the only song from that album that does nothing for me. I sometimes also skip Long Distance Runner, which is the other not so good song on SIT, but it is at least decent. Stranger is the only song here I would call a filler. It is ironic, because the artwork or the single is one of my most favourite Maiden artworks of all time. Maybe even their best. Definitely in my top 10 Maiden artworks ever. Unfortunately the song is not even close to this tier.

Not even the solo? :goodbye:
The solo is pretty good, not question, but solos are not what define songs for me (with VERY few exceptions, like Megadeth's Tornado of Souls). The greatest solo can not turn a bad song into a good one, and the shittiest solo can not completely ruin a brilliant song.
