Steve Harris Confirms Maiden England DVD for 2013

Ok, that's fair enough. I still think that the Santiago idea was somewhat uninspired, this coming from a band who have broken boundaries and revolutionized more than just their genre over the last three decades.

I think it would be interesting to see a live DVD from somewhere besides South America too but I totally understand why they film there. Audience atmosphere is very important on a live album and we all know that Latin American fans are VERY serious about Maiden. Just look at Death on the Road and En Vivo. The audience made a big difference. Of course, editing made a big difference there too.

As for a DVD for each tour, there are several full Maiden shows on Youtube. I know Rock Am Ring form '03 is up along with an Early Days tour show in Sweden along with A Matter of Life and Death show. Add those to official relesases and I think every tour since 2000, excluding the current one, is available.

I think that's exactly what EvilThing meant - Death on the Road is very different from En Vivo and that's partly due to the audience.

I wouldn't say the audience plays such a huge part, though. When the editing is made, noise from the crowd can be enhanced or subdued, if necessary. The setlist and what's happening on stage is what matters to me and I personally love Death on the Road.

Apart from some compilation albums, Death on the Road is for me Maiden's least interesting release.
At times, Bruce sounds like he needs an oxygen mask. He had a bad night.

Really? Rock in Rio is the best ever live DVD in my opinion, and En Vivo is pretty much Rock in Rio mk II. It's kind of the Bruno Senna or Ralf Schumacher of DVDs.

En Vivo is very good, though personally I think Live After Death is the best live album/video, with Rock In Rio also up there. En Vivo was my first, though (he said, continuing to reveal the fact that he is a newbie), and in the space of a few weeks I watched it like 5 or 6 times, so I have burned out on it a bit.

If you're very new then I suppose it's understandable to view the most recent DVD as their best. I started listening to Iron Maiden in 2005 so I've had Rock in Rio & Death on the Road as the recent DVDs. Live After Death is something I need to watch again though.

Yes, I can understand that, however, despite being new, I do not view it as the best. I think you have to reach a point where you need to view stuff objectively, and this goes for oldies too, to look at a song or album within or out of the context of history as necessary. I've read before that generally people who were fans before 2000 like LAD best, those who became fans in the new millennium generally like RiR best. I suppose I go against the stereotype by choosing Live After Death. Although I have neither heard nor seen Maiden England before, since it's not readily available, so I'm pretty excited for it to come out on DVD (and hopefully with a companion audio release).

Although it's not as bad as Aces High on LAD, Bruce doesn't sound great on The Wicker Man on Rock In Rio, either, but on all the rest he sounds amazing.

I can't help but wonder if Maiden England will have Donington 88 highlights as an extra? Live After Death came with Rock In Rio footage and Behind The Iron Curtain so repeating songs obviously wouldn't be a problem. The show was filmed and unless they plan to release it as a 25th or 30th anniversary DVD in it's own right you'd think there would be room to show 8 - 10 songs as an extra? Does anyone know if there was any shows professionally shot on the Somewhere In Time tour? I was really hoping something would be included in this series. I guess next they'll jump to Donington 92?

Don't hold me to this, but IIRC Steve said that he would like to release footage from Somewhere On Tour only there isn't any.

That would be disappointing if true. I've had a few boots that were of a lower quality than is really enjoyable to watch. It was such a great tour so it's a shame there's nothing around.

Indeed. I find it hard to believe they could have let this happen. Not even a single show filmed during the entire tour?
