Songs that wasn't released as singles but should have been

Stardust

Rainmaker
I gotta say, either Run Silent Run Deep or Deja Vu.
So...what's your pick for the songs that wasn't released as singles but should have been?

Wasn't Coming Home released as a single? Sort of, as in digitally. A radio edit or something. Maybe it was only as a promo.

Sort of, only to radio stations (though I managed to snag a copy... :D ) It did get some airplay, which is the main point of a single, but wasn't released to the public as such.

I always thought Only The Good Die Young would've made a great single. Then again, there were already 4 singles on SSOASS, so I'm not surprised they choose not to do any more.

Coming Home would've made a great single. I think there's one song that really would've boosted Maidens status when they were starting out and that song is Wrathchild. I'm very surprised this song wasn't released as one. And Die With Your Boots On would've made a great single too.

Well to be fair, Wrathchild was released as a double A-side single (with Twilight Zone) prior to the Killers album being released.

Judas Be My Guide would have been a great single.

I always thought Children of the Damned would have made a great third single from NOTB, especially in the 80's. I still don't know why The Mercenary wasn't released as a single, same with New Frontier. Both are pretty simplistic and upbeat with catchy choruses.

These Colours Don't Run could've made an excellent single from AMOLAD and given listeners a better understanding of the album than either Breeg or Different World.

I also agree with everyone on Coming Home, would've been smart to make it an actual single.

Judas Be My Guide would have been a great single.

I agree, especially coming after Wasting Love.

Well I guess I learn something new everyday. :)

As a kid, I thought Harris, being the prog fanatic he is, should have released "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" as a single (not edited!) As a b-side cover track, the band should have done Genesis' "Supper's Ready" (not edited!).
That would have been the ultimate "fuck you" to all Bon Jovi/Ratt fans at the time:p:nana:

...
I was a weird kid.

I'll second Judas Be My Guide, wow, one of my favorites. Just a great tune.

Also can we undo TAatG as a single? I actually like the song, but if you're gonna choose a super long song it may as well have been The Clansman. I would have preferred Lightning Strikes Twice, Two World Collide, or even Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger. I actually really like VXI, and I think better singles could have helped out.

I think flash of the blade & Only the good die young would have been really good singles, even if I understan why they where not released as such.

These Colours Don't Run would have been a much better single than Breeg (which honestly bores me). The singles from that album would be rather reminiscent of the Powerslave duo, with Different World as the fast-paced opener, and These Colours as the momentum carrier.
