So is this the last?

I personally don't think this is going to be the last album. Steve himself stated that this was not going to be the final record, during the Steve/Janick Rockline interview. I certainly hope not. I feel that their rather older age won't hold them back and that they still have the energy to continue performing, no problems there, the only doubt I have is the lack of creativity they may run into along the way of future records.

It seems Maiden has covered almost everything, murder, dystopian society, whores, phobia, war, outer space, the future, religion, historical figures or events, betrayal, dog-fighting (air battles), novels, films, invasion, and too many others to cover. They've also wrote a concept album. As intelligent and varied as this band is, you could only write about so much before you begin to run out of subjects, or your work starts to become repetitive. I don't see this as being a huge problem for Steve and the boys, but honestly Maiden, what the hell is left to write about?

Oh, come on....there's always more topics. Bruce, for instance, is a well-read guy; a modern day Renaissance man. He can write lyrics about anything. I mean...John Dee? Who would have expected that...I didn't!

As I said it may not be a big problem for Maiden, but they literally HAVE written about every major thing, if you really think about it. But your probably right LC, Maiden can write a song just about anything. Maiden could take something as simple as an apple and write a 12-minute epic about it.

Luckily, there is an entire world of history and the like; take war, for instance. How many songs have they written about war?

Invaders
Run to the Hills
The Trooper
Aces High
Alexander the Great
Tailgunner
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
The Aftermath
Fortunes of War
Blood on the World's Hands
The Clansman
Como Estais Amigos
Montsegur
Paschendale
These Colours Don't Run
The Longest Day
Mother of Mercy

That's literally just off the top of my head, without including "possibles".

What about literature/movies?

Phantom of the Opera
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Children of the Damned
Where Eagles Dare
To Tame A Land
The Duellists
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Stranger in a Strange Land
Run Silent, Run Deep
Sign of the Cross
The Edge of Darkness
Brave New World
Out of the Silent Planet
Where The Wild Wind Blows

And religion?

Hallowed Be Thy Name
Revelations
Powerslave
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (the album)
Holy Smoke
From Here To Eternity
No More Lies
Montsegur
For the Greater Good of God
Isle of Avalon

It's not like these subjects are exhausted in the slightest, either....or they'd have stopped making albums sometime in 1988 by my reckoning!

Hand on your arm's moving and the finger points down to
Your brand new Apple iPad it is shiny for you too
Your tongue has frozen now there's nothing you can say
Just get on your knees bow down Jobs has called today

You watch the chairman explaining every single sight
Dancing on the stage gizmo newborn in the light
Say goodbye to tablets and goodbye to iPods
Hello to the iPad and you hold it to your bod

Its time has come, the iPad has come
Its time has come, the iPad has come

The Genius wants your money you won't get it back
He denies you tech support without an Apple Plan
Now nothing you can Google will ever be the same
No Flash support means no videos and sets your mood aflame

You watch the chairman explaining every single sight
Dancing on the stage gizmo newborn in the light
Say goodbye to tablets and goodbye to iPods
Hello to the iPad and you hold it to your bod

Its time has come, the iPad has come
Its time has come, the iPad has come

The question we have to ask is not...is this the last album...but, is this nearly the last tour?
Quote Rod Smallwood: "I don't know if it's the last album, that's not something weäve discussed. I can tell you for sure though this is not the final tour".

I'd imagine they've one more record in them at least if they want. It must be a really hard thing to let go of. Making records and then touring to just becoming a "normal dude". I'd say they'll do a "Seventh Tour history tour" and then they'll evaluate the situation. My bet? One more record. We need to savour these guys for as long as we can.

We have to think to the present, like steve and adrian said they will be touring for a few years so for the next three years for sure and maybe until 2014 too.
Anyone knows if "the final frontier" will be the last album....maybe it will be or it will not be....but for know we don't have to think to this accoring to me because it's sad to talk about that.
We have to be happy because they'll be tour again even if for a few years, but for now let's think to this album and tour.

I'm a long time lurker on the site but just recently joined.  I remember reading a few topics here where Steve was quoted as saying they will probably have another new album out again soon.
