So is this the last?

When I'm pondering about the album that will follow TFF, I am always imagining an album with simple songs. I can't picture another thematic mega-masterpiece like the last two have been. But that's just my head.

Steve said that the next album probably won't take much long to start its writing process and I also see an album in the face, with all guns blazing to conclude the career on the highest note possible.

I don't think Iron Maiden will ever release a "last" album. They're more likely to release an album and decide two years later that it's all done. That being said...I get the feeling that they're going to toss out an album within 3 years again. They did so much inbetween that they won't do again - IE, Somewhere Back In Time.

They said that they'll probably announce it and it's more into Maiden's carachter to announce they're hanging the axes than deciding after 2 years. This is for those bands that see an opportunity to cash in with two or more farewell tours. Steve isn't of that tag.

Iron Maiden will not tour without the promise of an album, unless it's the last tour. Steve's got too much integrity for that.
What about the History Tour Part III? A lot of ground still to cover!

And...

It seems Maiden has covered almost everything, murder, dystopian society, whores, phobia, war, outer space, the future, religion, historical figures or events, betrayal, dog-fighting (air battles), novels, films, invasion, and too many others to cover. They've also wrote a concept album. As intelligent and varied as this band is, you could only write about so much before you begin to run out of subjects, or your work starts to become repetitive. I don't see this as being a huge problem for Steve and the boys, but honestly Maiden, what the hell is left to write about?

Maiden have never written a true love song. Well, "The Thin Line Between Love And Hate" is a wonderful song, but it's not ABOUT love. The topic that EVERY band/artist writes songs about, Maiden has never touched. Which is kind of a trademark for the band, but being such an important and diverse topic, I guess Maiden could do THE killer love song of all time!

Maiden did write Wasting Love, which I'd consider a love song.  Of course, they also wrote Charlotte the Harlot and Prowler....again about love in a sense.  They need to do an album about sharks.

Only if they do a 13-minute epic about Jaws.
